Arena Audience Reviews

Mjeteconer Just perfect...
Taha Avalos The best films of this genre always show a path and provide a takeaway for being a better person.
Deanna There are moments in this movie where the great movie it could've been peek out... They're fleeting, here, but they're worth savoring, and they happen often enough to make it worth your while.
Leofwine_draca ARENA is a straight-to-video fight flick with a predictable storyline about a young man who is kidnapped and forced to fight to the death in an arena for the enjoyment of Internet audiences. The thing that spoils it is some really shabby direction from an inexperienced director best known for his work in the visual effects field. The various fight scenes, although very gruesome, are shot with stupid-looking filters and the like which robs the viewer's enjoyment and renders them near unwatchable. The rest of the film is familiar from beginning to end, with trite dialogue and tired performances. I've seen Kellan Lutz in a few things now and he fails to impress in all of them, while Samuel L. Jackson is only here to grab the paycheque. The only actors who seem to be trying are those in smaller roles, namely genre veterans Derek Mears and James Remar.
Ole Sandbaek Joergensen Samuel Jackson has found his way into some pretty weird films at times, this is also a weird one and rides the wave from Death Race and other similar film, that has the world watch (over the internet, from a secret location of course) violent events for money and thereby either be criminals that does it for their own sick minds sake or be government funded and do it for the greater good of man. Here Samuel is a bit twisted, he arrange these fight for profit, kidnap them, brain wash them and make them fight, either for their own survival or for the sake of family and friends. It takes a few twist and turns on the way, and there are some gory fighting scenes, but the acting never gets really good and the film is a bit wage all-in-all.
steel_indigo I rarely watch a movie of this type but I have seen the martial arts movies of the past. Kellan Lutz was in the movie as the focal character and did justice to his part. Not only is he gorgeous but he is a fairly decent actor who is highly underrated. I see no problem that Samuel L. Jackson was in the movie. The part was tailor-maid for him. No the story wasn't unique but an idea is an idea and this one wasn't the same as others, just the overall idea.Kellan Lutz plays an agent for the government who has gone through a tragedy. His cover was blown and because of this his wife and unborn child are killed in a planned car accident. He becomes bitter but can't take his own life. He is the perfect person to send in undercover to a fight ring because they haven't been able to locate them or get rid of their presence on the net. Their technology and ability to keep officials at bay is astounding. Two Asian women are behind the computer technology along with Mr. Jackson.People are surprised Jackson was in the movie but I'm not because acting is his job and the movie would be seen and make money. It is pretty much a guy flick and full of blood and guts and gratuitous sex which is actually done quite tastefully even with the nudity it only alludes to the actual act for the most part. There is only one graphic scene where Lutz and the young woman who captured him are engaged in love making, which is briefly shown.David Lord the undercover name for Kellan Lutz goes there initially to help break up the group but gets involved over time in a vendetta against the one they call the Executioner. I won't give away any more but the ending is what one would expect but as someone else said leaves an opening for a sequel. It's a decent movie for its genre and if you aren't looking for academy award fare, this will while away a little time.
Saad Khan Arena – TRASH IT (C) Arena is a perfect example of how bad movies can be made in Hollywood. Casting Samuel L Jackson and Kellan Lutz seemed like a good cast for an action flick but when the production is C grade the movie will turn out to be an outer trash too. Arena's story is just like Hostel and The Tournament, where the kidnapped victims are tortured on the name of pleasure for public viewing. Samuel L Jackson is doing many trashy movies lately. Kellan Lutz is all about physique, he still needs to improve a lot but defiantly he is good in kicking some A**. Nina Dobrev was wasted in very small part. Kate Winter is exotic and kind of the only actor in the movie who acted good. Overall, Arena is time passer trash, though gruesome lovers may actually quite enjoy it.
