Dead Space: Aftermath Audience Reviews

Crwthod A lot more amusing than I thought it would be.
ChanFamous I wanted to like it more than I actually did... But much of the humor totally escaped me and I walked out only mildly impressed.
Nayan Gough A great movie, one of the best of this year. There was a bit of confusion at one point in the plot, but nothing serious.
Rosie Searle It's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.
SlyGuy21 While "Downfall" wasn't perfect, it was at least consistent. Much like when I watched "Gotham Kinght" earlier this year, the biggest flaw this film suffers from is it's inconsistency. The animation quality varies from sub-par CGI, to good, to hyper-realistic, to minimal. Was it really that difficult to stick to a single style of animation, or hell, tell a complete story? Granted after seeing "Downfall", there aren't a lot of surprises that can be offered here. People go crazy and kill each other, but at least "Downfall" was a whole story. This is 5 shorts combined into one movie, and while flashbacks would've worked, the constant changing of animation distracts from the story. This was made to fill in the gaps between "Dead Space" and it's sequel, but at the end of the day, there's not really a story to be told here.
kk-yanakiev I don't often write reviews, but at this particular case I want to, since a lot of the posted here is making this movie look way worse than it actually is.Aftermath is the 2nd movie based on the Dead Space franchise by EA publisher. First one being Dead Space: Downfall. There are also 2 graphic novels, 7 comic books- made in motion comic, etc. Without spoiling anything here is some light:VISUALS: It's a low budget movie. You can see it all over the place- the 3D is just to get by and the 2D: there are jaded figures here and there. However, the animation style in general is WAY BETTER than the 1st movie in my opinion. And you can find inspiration for different projects in the movie. The different stories are told in a different style which reminds of other works done in a similar manner (Batman Gotham Knight, Animatrix etc.). Which is exactly how I feel this stage should develop. Small indie-studios, you throw them in some ideas and let them dream/work. With little copyright issues of course (this never happens :((( ) In one word, the 3d is crap, but it's only a 3rd of the movie, so you can live through it.SOUND: Probably the best part. The voices are convincing and they breathe life into every character. There are Irish, Indian, etc accents, ethnic diversity, albeit a little stereotypical, but fantastic. I really enjoyed the sound work and effects. All, but good words here.STORY: From a fan point of view, the story makes perfect sense. If you are, however, unfamiliar with Dead Space, then probably you wouldn't enjoy this movie as much. In my opinion this is not bad, and you can at least get interested in the franchise on the first place.CHARACTERS: There are 4 main characters, you get to learn pieces of their past and occupation, not too much information on the overall. But enough for the plot to move on. I want to keep this short, so I am not going to go into details.FINNALLY, If you are a fan/familiar with Dead Space this movie is a solid addition to your collection and will quench your thrust for more Dead Space adventure for a bit. Leaving you waning more of the same.If you have never heard of Dead Space, this will feel like a little bit above average production that will either make you seek more info or forget about it.Me personally, this is a solid 7-7.5. I voted a bit higher, because 5-something doesn't do justice to this project. It's way too low for the work put into to it and it's way too low for the final result as well. I say give it a chance, you wont be disappointed and the movie is far better than most of the animation coming out these days- story-wise at least.
Sorpse meh it was an alright watch, i didn't love it but there wasn't really a whole lot about it i didn't like either. The plot is OK although in between stories we get some dialogue that i found quite boring. Each time someone is interrogated we have to relive the same story over again from the beginning when really all we want to see is aliens and humans fighting. and maybe some scares would have been good too. The game is all about the creepy setting and is known to be one of the scariest games out there but in this movie they don't go for creepy at all. I also liked how the shard affected people, this made the plot a lot More interesting although i cant say that it felt original in any way. It wasn't just the aliens that were a threat it was also the humans who have become insane and at some times you don't know what is true or illusion. All in all i don't think i enjoyed it quite as much as downfall but it was still a pretty good waste of time.
FlippyisFloppy This was better than what the reviews from others seemed to be. Honestly I enjoyed the movie and I will point out the Pros of the movie and the consPros: +First 3 Animations from the flashbacks where great (wasnt a big fan of the last one but it was fine)+Excellent Story to help fill the gap between the first game and second game.+ Voice Acting was good, not great but good. Cons: - The CGI animation was terribleOther Notes: Yeah yeah I just felt lazy and shorted the review by doing a Pro and Con thing, which is somewhat unusual for a movie review.I'll quickly explain why I gave it a somewhat average rating. The main reason was because of the CGI Animation, I swear to god if they did the regular animation (any of the first 3 flashback)instead, it would of been bumped to an 7 or 8. I can't believe they even considered using that bad of an animation. Otherwise everything else was good about the movie. Last thing, the fourth animation I wasn't particularly fond of. The main reason? Everyone looked like they where on steroids or something....and to me that gives an ugly appearance. But Overall I really did enjoy the movie, it definitely something worth watching especially if your a Dead Space fan.
