Diana and I Audience Reviews

Alicia I love this movie so much
ReaderKenka Let's be realistic.
Lollivan It's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.
Loui Blair It's a feast for the eyes. But what really makes this dramedy work is the acting.
Prismark10 As we get to the 20th anniversary of Princess Diana's death, not only do we have to put up with a slew of documentaries by all the television channels, we also now get a fictional drama about how her death affected the lives of four people.Teenager Jack's mother has died in hospital on the same night as Diana who her mother adored. He is unhappy that his dad remarried a younger woman and he has issues surrounding his own sexuality.Mary in Glasgow is an ambulance chasing florist who sees the death of Diana as a money making opportunity to sell flowers in London.Michael is an ambitious young journalist on his honeymoon in Paris when he is awoken and told of the new of Diana's death His agency sends him out to interview about the chauffeur's drinking habits much to annoyance of his wife.Yasmin is married to a failed businessman who is also a chauvinist pig. She takes her daughter to London so she can pay her respects.Peter Cattaneo who 20 years ago directed the gritty and charming The Full Monty has come unstuck in this twee, incoherent and cloying drama which has all the clichés and stereotypes in the book. The tough Glaswegian with a mother who has Alzheimer's with a best friend who loves her.The journalist who puts his own career opportunities ahead of marital bliss even when he tries to look for his wife. The confused, rather dim gay teenager. At least his dad understood him (a nice understated performance from Neil Morrissey.)The Asian woman with a dominant husband who puts the boot in by saying 'my mother was right about you.'The whole thing just came across as tacky when the makers tried so hard to be earnest.
