Good Burger Audience Reviews

Phonearl Good start, but then it gets ruined
BoardChiri Bad Acting and worse Bad Screenplay
Portia Hilton Blistering performances.
Philippa All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.
gwnightscream This 1997 comedy stars Kel Mitchell and Kenan Thompson. Thompson (SNL) plays Dexter, a teen who is ready for Summer vacation. His plans drastically change, when he crosses paths with dim-witted teen, Ed (Mitchell). Ed works at local fast food joint, "Good Burger" and helps Dexter get a job working there after causing Dexter's car accident. They eventually become friends and learn that new competitor across the street, "Mondo Burger" is using illegal, growth substances in their meat to boom business. Ed and Dexter try to stop it and save their establishment from going out of business. Sinbad, Abe Vigoda, Shaquille O'Neal, George Clinton and Carmen Electra also appear. This isn't a bad film with some funny and corny moments I recommend.
rollercoasterjustin Quick and simple review:The Plot: Kel works at a Burger King like restaurant and is basically Keanu from Bill & Ted. Kenan crashes his car into a guys (Sinbad) car and has to pay 2-3,000 to make it up. He ends up working at Good Burger shortly after a rival chain opens their own burger restaurant next door.I liked - The Carmen Electra part And everything after that I will also give credit that the song in the credits was OKDidn't like - Kel's annoying voice And the first 40? minutes of the movieIf your a fan of Kenan Thompson or Kel Mitchell, You might get a kick out of this movie although Kenan is playing the straight man in this movie.
ironhorse_iv Welcome to Good Burger, home of the Good Burger! Can I take your order? Why yes, could you deliver a better movie, next time, Brian Robbins? I don't like, what you're serving here, as a director. I know, that I'll not have it my way, since this movie isn't Burger King. But if Ole' McDonald had to spell it; this movie would spell out: T.R.A.S.H. This is what I felt like, when Good Burger came out. It was a movie that felt like dumpster diving. The meat of the story is pretty old & bloated and the jokes are hard to digest. Yes, a lot of people love this movie, because they can sit back, turn off their brains for the moment and enjoy some hysterical crap, but still like fast food; it's junk. It's very unhealthy & really, really stupid. Based off, the Good Burger skits from then live-action Nickelodeon sketch comedy show, 'All That", the movie tells the story of two dim-witted teenage boys, Ed (Kel Mitchell) & Dexter Reed (Kenan Thompson) trying to save their employer, a fast-food joint call Good Burger, when a new-and-improved burger place, Mondo Burger opens across the street. Can Good Burger stay in business or will Mondo Burger run it to the ground? Watch the movie to find out! Without spoiling the movie, too much. I have to say, the three to four minutes, 'Good Burger' sketches on the 'All That' show, was a lot better than this film. The reason why, is because the nonsensical humor that made the skit, famous; works better in small batches. It doesn't work, in a movie with a run-time of 103 minutes. It's far too long, for a general stupid-ass movie with over the top acting and unrealistic scenarios for my taste. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate the movie, I just didn't like it. I like the show version, much, much better. First of all, if you guys like the movie, that's cool, but please take off, your nostalgia goggles for a moment & see it, as what it is; pure crap. Released by Paramount Pictures, the film is noteworthy for being the first theatrical-released film based on a Nickelodeon show. I really didn't mind, the main actors in the film, so much. The two actors, really do have chemistry, together. This film, really did help them, establish themselves as main lead actors, to the point that Nickelodeon created a spin-off show, call Kenan & Kel, just for them. Their characters are a hit or a miss. They are pretty likable, but they come off, annoying and immature at times. In my opinion, the supporting characters are far worst. As much as I love Sinbad; he was just horrible as the 1970's loving, teacher, Mr. Wheat. Every time, he was on screen, I had to fast forward his hammy arguing parts. Another character that I really hate, is Kurt Bozwell (Jan Schweiterman). It's not, the fact, that he is the villain, but how the actor play him. All that exaggerated screaming and yelling was making my ears, bleed. Plus, why are they dress up like Star Trek rejects!? Also, why didn't the main characters know Mondo Burger's biggest darker secret, until the end? Didn't one of them, use to work at Mondos? Anyways, I found the cameos in the film, to be a bit jarring as well. Shaquille O'Neal ordering a burger, before a basketball game? Wouldn't that upset his stomach? No wonder, why he sucks at free throws. He's trying to keep it in. Carmen Electra as Roxanne, an adult woman trying to date, a minor was a bit disturbing and out of place as well. I really didn't like, her bit. The violence acts toward her, wasn't that funny. Two supporting cast members that I did like, in the movie, was Linda Cardellini as Heather & Abe Vigoda as Otis. Linda Cardellini plays her short role as a psycho ward patient, very well. She was not only charming, but surprising, very attractive. Abe Vigoda really makes the movie, so fun to watch, as he has some of the best delivery when it comes to site-gags or the one-liners. It's also nice to see fellow 'All That' cast member Josh Server, Dan Schneider & Lori Beth Denberg shows up as Ed & Dexter's co-workers. I just wish, they had, more to work with. The movie soundtrack was composed by the fantastic Stewart Copeland, drummer for The Police and George Clinton of Parliament-Funkadelic. I like, how they both did film covers of their songs. The score also contains numerous moments of guitar shredding, heavy rock riffs, synthesizers, R&B vocal samples and some funk tracks. It was fun to listen to, but I really have to question, the logic of this movie, when the film had a synchronized dance number, out of nowhere. The jokes are a hit or a miss when it comes to the film. It was mostly a miss to my funny bone, but you gotta give Nickelodeon credit for staying original to the All That-style humor. Still, the movie had some really disturbing sexual humor and suggestiveness. Seeing Ed, wear a corset and stocking was a little too much. This movie is indeed low-brow romp, but I do like, how the movie does have a somewhat of a positive message. I love its themes on community, friendship, and integrity, particularly regarding employment and fairness. It has a particular soft spot for hidden intelligence or the notion that people may be smarter than they seem and capable of talents that are not obvious from their appearances. I also found the critique against fast-food giants putting harmful ingredients & chemicals that makes consumers unhealthy, to be a plus. Overall: This zany antics movie needs some more work. It's not worth driving thru. It's better, just to drive off.
DiamondGirlfl Once upon a time...NICK actually offered fun programing. Stuff your kids and you could watch together and enjoy. Now...most of what NICK dumps out is the same stuff repeated over and over. NICK..like Disney has become a product generating machine...taking kids,pre-teens, and teens and turning them into "stars" as quickly as possible...because that generates lots and lots of money. Little concern is given to the actual creativity that might happen as well. My kids...now all grown adults...used to watch many of the shows NICK offered...like "All That" and then "Kenan and Kel"....which is where this movie was generated from. Kel...the rather slow-witted half of the duo works at "Good Burger"...(how he got the job in the first place does come to mind..) and Kenan...the smart mouth wise guy...who tries to get through life without doing much at all...star in this funny film. As "Ed" and "Dexter"..they get into all kinds of crazy situations...all the while trying to make it through the summer. Adding to the storyline is the fact that across the street from "Good Burger" is a huge fast food place called "Mondp Burger"..and it has none of the charm of Good Burger...in fact...the plan of the very psycho manager of the place is to put Good Burger out of business...for good...or as he puts it...in the grinder. All the workers there are actually afraid of this guy..Kurt...why I have no idea. He looks about as fearful as a cotton ball. It looks like Mondo is going to take over the burger world...but wait...by accident....Dexter discovers that Ed has created his own special sauce....and suddenly...Good Burger is the most popular place in town to eat...and everyone is happy...for a while. In between....there is a teacher who seems to have it in for Dexter..who owns him money for a car accident he caused. Sinbad plays this character...and he looks like he is stuck in the 70s. He seems too mean for a teacher...but adults are never shown in a good light in movies like this one. Anyway...the show goes on and Dexter and Ed go through all kinds of chaos becoming good friends in the process. They also have to become heroes of sorts as well...unlikely ones for sure. They end up saving the day...and all is well. My kids watched this film years ago..and now younger ones in our family have watched it too...laughing and enjoying it just as much. This movie and these actors were pre-Hannna/Carly/Jonus....and much more fun to watch. While NICK is still cute and kids watch it endlessly..it no longer offers the same fun and creative programing it once did. The "kids" of Good Burger have all grown up and moved on...few we will hear about from time to time...but the fun of Good Burger remains for those who loved it then and will always enjoy it now...with or without kids being around.
