Green Lantern: First Flight Audience Reviews

Matrixston Wow! Such a good movie.
Odelecol Pretty good movie overall. First half was nothing special but it got better as it went along.
BelSports This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.
Geraldine The story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.
KineticSeoul Fans of the Green Lantern, is probably going to really like this movie. Sure the development may fall short in some areas. But it does a fine job of carrying on the essence of the Green Lantern. It does a good job of showing the origin story of the Green Lantern and where he comes from and how he got the ring. I think the 2011 live action Green Lantern was probably saving certain plots from this animated movie for the sequel. Cause the story is good enough for a Green Lantern movie to make it worth a watch. Sure I can see certain areas where the movie could have been better, such as more on the growth and depth of Hal Jordan. Maybe a less generic and predictable direction may have also really worked for this movie without messing up Hal's origin. But it doesn't lose focus on the primary goal of the story. So in that regards, it's a fairly satisfying movie. Not great, but satisfying and I think they did what they could with the budget and time they had. I think some movies shouldn't be made if they don't have the resources to make a good one, but I think this one is worth the pass.6.8/10
TheLittleSongbird I like superheroes, and I like comic book movies as much as anybody. Having loved Green Lantern: Emerald Knights and being underwhelmed by the live-action movie, I found myself really liking this film. It is too short in length and I also felt it was rushed in places. However, there is much to like. The animation is very good indeed, the colours are bold and atmospheric, the backgrounds are detailed and the character designs are modelled well. The music is both cool and haunting and the script is humorous in a wry sense as well as suspenseful. The story, even though abridged, has some great twists and poignant drama and any tension is exactly what it promises. The action scenes are violent but very well-choreographed and gripping. The characters are mostly compelling, the titular character is a strong charismatic hero. Even better is Sinestro, possibly what makes the film, his motives are not the most surprising but not overly-predictable either but this is more than a standard villain. The voice acting is dynamic also, especially from Victor Garber and Michael Madsen. All in all, well animated and gripping. 8/10 Bethany Cox
cheesetothepower "Green Lantern: First Flight" is a darn decent movie, especially for a direct to DVD movie. The animation is fluid and crisp. By the end of the movie the characters felt well developed. The writing is excellent, though the plot itself is ordinary and would feel clichéd under a less competent writer and director. On the negative, I think that the entire the movie lacks due to its limited time of seventy minutes. I think at five or six minutes, too little time was spent on Earth. I felt that I had no idea who Hal Jordon was before he was a Green Lantern, which could have been fixed by following the main character for a day or even a few hours of his life. The problem with that is there is no part of the movie that the time necessary for that could be taken from. Hal Jordon would be more nervous or anxious or scared that aliens are suddenly coming to his home planet, giving him a power ring and taking him far away from the only planet he has ever been on. Over all a good movie, but it has some problems.
disdressed12 i thought this was a very well done animated movie.it's the origin story of how Hal Jordan became a Green Lantern.i have no idea how close it is to the original comic book origin.but i do knew,i loved the story.i thought it flowed very well, with a good mixture of action and drama.i thought the voice acting was terrific.plus, they seemed to have a good script to work with.i found the dialogue to be really good,as well.none of the usual cheese we tend to see in many animated or even live action movies.i think this particular animated film is as good as any of the recent spate of releases by both Marvel and DC,and it's certainly as entertaining.for me,Green Lantern:First Flight is an 8/10
