korea9737 "In fact, people who know whether it is the white whale and struggle with it are only a few." The movie 'Moby dick' begins with this phrase of the novel 'Moby dick' written by Herman Melville. In this movie, the 'Moby dick' means a huge operation and show remarkable activities of reporters of social department that struggles with it. Before watching this movie, there are two kinds of information that these are good to know. One is that the name of this movie quotes the title of Herman Melville's novel and the other is that the movie is supposedly based on a true story that private soldier 'Seok Yang, Yun' who had worked in the Army Security Command blew the whistle that the government investigated civilian in 1990. At that time, the café's name that the Army Security Command made to investigate civilian in front of Seoul University was Moby dick. This movie is based on that a reporter of social department who doubts the announcement of the government that the spy of North Korea blew up 'Balam' bridge near Seoul in 1994 traces the group behind this accident. One day, Yun Huk(Gu, Jin) who had lost touch with Bang woo, Lee(Jung Min, Hwang),a newspaper reporter, long time ago visits him after he deserted from barracks. He divulged that the accident of Balam Bridge was fabricated and there is a group of darkness that controls the government. Bang woo who is half in doubt makes the special team for covering this accident with Hyo Kuan, Sung (Min Hee, Kim), a beginner reporter, and Gin Gi, Son (Sang Ho, Kim) who was a great reporter from the countryside. While investigating this accident, they raise an existence of the group that controls the government that it can explain the conspiracy theory with putting the puzzle of accident. But a suspect of the accident was killed in the hospital and the truth becomes blurred more and more. Gin Gi ends up losing his life by manipulating traffic accident. The main actor 'Jung Min, Hwang' who he play very well makes the movie great and Gu, Jin adds the reality of movie to his role by the strong intensity of action. Sang Ho, Kim, although he has a small quantity of time, confirms his existence by showing human-interest character and Min Hee, Kim does play a role that deals with computer as a reporter who graduated from College of Engineering. In fact, the conspiracy theory is not new. We can see a Hollywood movie with it without difficulty. But this movie is a meaningful film because it deals with a conspiracy theory that is sensitive in South Korea with imagination of film and fact that the government investigates civilian. Also, you can see the scene of Newspaper Company in 1990's. Specifically, it is very interesting because several situations of this movie have possibility of being true in reality.
