Murphy's Law Audience Reviews

Scanialara You won't be disappointed!
Micitype Pretty Good
Comwayon A Disappointing Continuation
Matho The biggest problem with this movie is it’s a little better than you think it might be, which somehow makes it worse. As in, it takes itself a bit too seriously, which makes most of the movie feel kind of dull.
The Grand Master Charles Bronson enjoyed a career boost with the successful release of Death Wish (1974) and throughout the 1970's and 1980's Bronson was in a string of violent action movies, most of which were hit-and-miss. Murphy's Law was one of those movies which can be seen as one you just have to accept the fact that it is what it is.Hardnosed alcoholic LAPD Detective Jack Murphy (Charles Bronson) successfully had serial killer Joan Freeman (Carrie Snodgress, who was effectively good value as the villain) locked up behind bars years ago. When Freeman is finally released from prison, she vows to ruin Murphy's life by murdering his stripper ex-wife Jan (Angel Tompkins) and other police officers on her hit list, framing Murphy for her crimes. After he's arrested, the police handcuff Murphy to a foul mouthed car thief, Arabella McGee (Kathleen Wilhoite) who Murphy had arrested earlier. Still handcuffed to Arabella, Murphy breaks out of police custody and the two must work together to find the real killer.By no means is the movie tame with it's R18+ rating deserved for its violence and sexual content. Leave your brain at the door and don't expect too much from Charles Bronson and the straightforward plot and you might enjoy some old school action. Otherwise, you may consider this a waste of time and look elsewhere.6/10.
Brian T. Whitlock (GOWBTW) Action movies has been Charles Bronson's forte. "Murphy's Law" is no exception. In this movie, Bronson plays Jack Murphy, a boozy cop who gets set up, and cuffed to a potty mouth female convict(Kathleen Wilhoite). First of all, Murphy has his career going down the tubes when his ex-wife become an adult entertainer. That really sends him over the edge. Unbeknownst to him, when he follows her and her new beau, someone knocked him out, grabbed his gun, and killed her and her boyfriend at her place. It turned out the person who framed Murphy is no other than Joan Freeman(Carrie Snodgrass) one of Jack's first felons. She's on a revenge streak to take out all who has put her behind bars. The only partner Murphy has is the foul mouth Arabella McGee(Wilhoite). Since one cop was working for a mob boss(Richard Romanus), Murphy goes all the way to stop Freeman any way he can. Even though that Jack had started to drink earlier, he was able to sober up to help McGee in every aspect of the situation. He did take an ax to the stomach, but Freeman ended up "axing" for trouble on her own. This movie has a lot of action and suspense, but there was enough cheese factor to make it more comedic than dramatic. Great cast though. 2 out of 5 stars
FlashCallahan Jack Murphy is an antisocial cop. Things are not good for him, he's just killed the brother of a mobster, and is now marked for death. His wife left him and is now a dancer, and when she shuns him, he drowns his sorrows in the bottle. And if that isn't enough, someone is stalking him, and kills his wife to frame him. Murphy is arrested and is handcuffed to a young street kid, whom he arrested earlier. They escape and Murphy tries to find out who did this to him.....If your familiar to the Bronsan movies of the eighties, especially the ones made by Cannon,,you know exactly what your in for. A short movie, with typecast Italian villains, Pretty grim violence (the air stewardess still gets me), and Bronsan shouting brilliant one liners. But wow, Arabella McGee, has the best one liners ever committed to film. It's as if the scriptwriters have left her part for their teenage sons to write, because she literally says the most immature put downs every couple of minutes.Suck on a door knob Donkey breath Whiskey breath, are just a few of the crackers, and they never fail to make me laugh. The actual plot is pretty good for the genre, and although the main villain channels Sondra Locke in Sudden Impact a little too much, she still convinces. All in all its a brilliant, cheesy action movie, that never fails to entertain.Plus it's the best movie ever to feature a man trying to stop a car by throwing shopping at it...
Bolesroor "Murphy's Law" is predictable Bronson 80's fare rendered unwatchable by the character of "Arabella McGee," a Tourettes-stricken six year-old in the body of an adult woman. Bronson spends most of the movie metaphorically handcuffed to McGee, his "mismatched" buddy who speaks only in grade school trash talk.Among her more pathetic insults are "dinosaur dork," "sperm bank," "booger-sucking pimple vomit," "camel-crotch," and "bug-sucking barf-brains." Any producer/writer/director who thought this sort of vulgar stupidity would be funny probably didn't make many movies after this one. It's the type of loud, offensive stunt that ruins the movie and reveals just how clueless the filmmakers are. What's the point of continuing the review? The plot, a simple revenge story, is derailed by Kathleen Wilhoite's unrelenting foulmouth, a constant reminder of the ignorance and indifference that went into this mindless Golan-Globus flop. I'm out.GRADE: FPS- If you're ever subjected to this trash be sure to stay tuned for the laughably-awful theme song during the end credits... it's the cherry on this s#it-sundae :)
