Repo Men Audience Reviews

CheerupSilver Very Cool!!!
FeistyUpper If you don't like this, we can't be friends.
KnotStronger This is a must-see and one of the best documentaries - and films - of this year.
Matho The biggest problem with this movie is it’s a little better than you think it might be, which somehow makes it worse. As in, it takes itself a bit too seriously, which makes most of the movie feel kind of dull.
torstensonjohn When we think of repo men we think homes, cars, boats etc...., but in this case it is much more climactic, much more involved, it's much more personal. In the future a company collectively called The Union sells advancements in medical technology with bio-mechanical organs. Whether the recipient wants it or not they receive these organs at a steep price and if they fall behind in payments or can't pay the company sends repo men to retrieve said organs.Remy (Jude Law) is one of the more elite repo men in the business. After a cardiac event he is fitted with a new bio heart unbeknownst to him. His partner Jake (Forest Whitaker) is ruthless and they have been friends since childhood. After Remy is fitted and back at work he realizes he can no longer take organs from people. The company sends Jake after him to retrieve his heart. This is a pulse pounding, action filled sci-fi thriller and has decent performances by Law and Whitaker, strong character development. It is entertaining with it's story as it is different and draws the audience in. I give this a 7 out of 10.
fraser-simons I remember being disappointed by it when it first came out but after rewatching it, I actually quite enjoyed it. I find it pretty topical and I liked that cognitive dissonance was so predominate. It felt pretty tongue in cheek of the genre. I wished they had fleshed out Beth more, but given the ending some of the things I may have had a problem with don't matter. And the fact that it was telegraphed early on made it pretty easy for me to just enjoy it. The narration is fairly entertaining, acting isn't bad, cool tech, good action. Overall yeah, not bad for me. Maybe it's because I watched those 80s movies though, my standards are lowered.Great production value, decent acting, interesting commentary on cognitive dissonance. Great action, pretty cool tech. Not sure how this could be rated more poorly than some of the old shitty ones, like Nemesis for example.
Warren Marris Having seen "REPO - THE GENETIC OPERA" prior to this, I was sort of expecting a more serious version of the same, and I got what i expected.I have seen a review saying that this is just a "Remake of Logan's Run" ... Well, I have seen that film and this is NOT anything like Logan's Run - So do not let that review fool you. This is a pure Sci-Fi Tale of Corporate Greed and corruption... It plays well into the mindset of the world at the moment with the Greed of Bankers having made headlines and a growing disdain for our political leaders... Many may even chose to see this as a vision of our future. My god I seriously hope NOT!The film is Brutal and bloody, highly unforgiving when the violence does ensue, but there is a far more moral story that plays throughout that makes this film a must see...SPOILER ALERT: If you are paying attention through the movie, there are plenty of clues to how it ends... I will not spoil it except to say that you are NOT going to get a happy ending!Would I recommend this film? DEFIANTLY! Its not one you are going to want to re-watch over and over... And it should not be viewed by those of a nervous disposition or who hate the sight of blood...If you enjoyed Repo - The Genetic Opera, you are going to enjoy this as well...
Tehmeh After the first 40 minutes or so, I wasn't sure if I liked this or not. I could see that the movie wasn't too ambitious, and seemed to shoehorn some elements (family problems, love interests etc.) that we just apparently have to have in every movie. But, it did get better towards the end. I can appreciate some aspects in this film, even though it does lack certain qualities."Repo Men" reminds me of many movies based on Philip K. Dick's stories. It isn't one, but it damn well could be. There are themes that are familiar from "Minority Report", "Impostor", "Equilibrium" and even to some extent "Total Recall". All those films are clearly above this one, but I'd say this is worth seeing at least once. The main flaw with this movie is that it doesn't always seem to know what it is and what it wants to make us feel. We do get basically everything: characters, drama, action, explicit non-PG13 violence, humor, sci-fi, a catchphrase and even a little twist - but it lacks a certain focus and some opportunities are lost, thus taking away from the impact. These tonal changes don't always work. Add a soundtrack that's sometimes very good and other times the exact opposite, and you get a movie that tries too hard for what it is, leaving many people disappointed.Jude Law does a decent enough job, and Forest Whitaker is always fun to watch, even though he's hamming it up a bit sometimes (not necessarily a bad thing). Liev Schreiber is entertaining as the face of the corporation.Think of it as a B-movie along the lines of "Impostor", that would be my advice. As such, it is entertaining and does it's job, and can possibly surprise some people in a positive way. There's no 100M dollar CGI budget either, so it's easier to digest this way. The sci-fi elements are certainly not hard sci-fi, so take it as it is. A simple adequate movie that often misses the mark, but never by a mile. If you have nothing to do on a rainy day, might as well see this - it's definitely not a disaster. I don't regret getting the blu-ray at a discount. Probably won't watch it again, but no regrets nonetheless.
