The Detonator Audience Reviews

GazerRise Fantastic!
Baseshment I like movies that are aware of what they are selling... without [any] greater aspirations than to make people laugh and that's it.
Siflutter It's easily one of the freshest, sharpest and most enjoyable films of this year.
Nicole I enjoyed watching this film and would recommend other to give it a try , (as I am) but this movie, although enjoyable to watch due to the better than average acting fails to add anything new to its storyline that is all too familiar to these types of movies.
callanvass I saw this when it was first released on DVD! I hated it then. I gave it another chance months ago. I like Wesley Snipes and I still believe in him. I hated it just as much this time around. It's one of those pretentious STD films that have a conflicted character. I hate it when movies reveal a lot of the ending in the opening with narration. It almost makes me wanna not watch it. Even if I have a fair idea of what's gonna happen, I prefer no hints. This movie lacks action and more importantly, excitement. Snipes looks bored at times during this movie. Can't say as I blame him. The man has bills to pay! I can't recommend this to anyone! Even the biggest Snipes fans3/10
gridoon2018 "Low-budget" or "straight to video / DVD" don't equal "bad" in my book, and "The Detonator", a Wesley Snipes vehicle that falls into both of the above categories, may largely be a routine actioner, but it does contain some solid action sequences and some respect-worthy stunts (most of the fights are blink-and-you'll miss them, though). The plot is reasonably twisty-turny, and Silvia Colloca adds welcome grace and emotion to the film (she even gets her own "angelic" music theme: this may sound like a corny idea, but she has the "angelic" beauty to justify it). Even the Romanian shooting locations are pretty well used. Passable action fare. (**1/2)
Caio Coletti In the movies dictionary, Wesley Snipes is synonym of... action and action, usually without much brain, but this is an exception. In spite of the title, that suggest a movie right in the style of the ex basket player, after the first half of the movie we perceive the difference: a very intelligent and well-weaved screenplay. Snipes play the CIA agent Sonni Griffith, that investigate the gun's traffic by a team that is owned by a millionaire (Tim Dutton), but everything gets wrong e he is placed in a guard mission of a woman (the beautiful Silvia Colloca), that recently find your dead husband and it's being persecuted by the same millionaire. The English Po Chih Leong deliver a correct direction, the final is a surprise, the movie satisfy, and Snipes, finally, is in the right way.
rossboyask Meh, Sums it all up for me really. Boring story, bland dialogue, dull action scenes (HOW do you make something like a fight or a shootout boring? Do you actually have to TRY to do that?), no real characters etc. Just dull. Snipes is a gifted actor and physical performer but none of this has come to the surface in ANY of his DTV work, when the opportunity is there to give the audience a much more superior product than they are used to. Imagine a decent script with a few solid characters that you care about and some damn explosive action, fights, shootouts, etc. How can it be that hard to handle? My personal opinion is that the primary players in the productions simply do not care. There is no evidence of enthusiasm for what they are doing. Look at Snipes in the first 2 Blades, Passenger 57, Rising Sun, New Jack City, Demolition Man etc? Awesome, intense performances complemented by decent (if not always outstanding) scripts, good supporting casts and wicked action.None of that is evident in any of these releases so far which is a tremendous shame. The distributors slap Wesley's face on the cover, knowing the audience will lap them up as they haven't realised yet that they haven't seen him in theatres for nearly 2 years.I'd love to see Snipes work with somebody like Isaac Florentine who really knows how to make the most out of a DTV production, and work with Alpha Stunts who are simply some of the best action guys out there. Together they would all make an awesome team and a Snipes action vehicle we would all be proud of seeing.Detonator sucks. It's not as bad as The Marksman, which chews, but it still really sucks.
