In February of 1959, nine Russian hikers ventured into a remote area of the Ural Mountains. Two weeks later, all of them were found dead. What happened is a mystery that has baffled investigators and researchers for decades. It has become known as the Dyatlov Pass Incident. When five ambitious American college students are issued a grant to return to the site of the original events, they gear up with the belief that they can uncover and document the truth of what happened to the supposedly experienced hikers. But what they find is more shocking than anything they could have imagined. Retracing the steps of the Russians' ill-fated journey, the students are plagued by strange and increasingly terrifying phenomena that suggest that in spite of the desolate surroundings, they are not alone. The forces at work in the Dyatlov Pass Incident have been waiting for them.

The Dyatlov Pass Incident Audience Reviews

More Review
Claysaba Excellent, Without a doubt!!
Gutsycurene Fanciful, disturbing, and wildly original, it announces the arrival of a fresh, bold voice in American cinema.
Kaydan Christian A terrific literary drama and character piece that shows how the process of creating art can be seen differently by those doing it and those looking at it from the outside.
Dana An old-fashioned movie made with new-fashioned finesse.
sly_extrem If you hike the mountains, you'll always remember it! Easy done, nothing's extraordinary but the idea is amazing.
acdc_mp3 I stumbled across this movie channel surfing and within 20 minutes I wanted each and every character making the documentary to die slowly and painfully. Every bit of logic and common sense is thrown out the window at every turn. They are all self assured douche bags that, really, deserve to die because of their arrogance. There is so much wrong with this movie that I just can't explain why I am sitting here writing this review as I laugh at their idiocy at how they approach every situation that comes their way. Myself, the second my GPS and compass started malfunctioning for no reason would have made me get the F off the mountain. Holly, our magnificent documentary leader, who is very much like the mule headed dolt that lead her crew to their deaths in "The Blair Witch Project", just is beyond words simple minded. "Oh, everything stopped working properly? Oh, its OK. Don't worry about it! Why did we bother coming then??? We MUST stay!" "Oh, we found a cave with a bunker in it! Hey! I have an idea! Lets open the door without any thought at all of what might be back there! It's why were are HERE! Oh, and lets not tell anyone about it after we get back to camp!" Anyway, I am waiting patiently for them to die and it better be spectacular. I am sure you will be cheering right along with me if you happen to watch this movie.
nancy Based on the true story of The Dyatlov Incident, Devils Pass is a pretty interesting watch. The Dyatlov Pass Incident, a genuine Russian mystery from 1959, is about nine hikers who were found dead in the Ural Mountains.A mixed group set-out to film and retrace the steps of the original hikers on the mountain Kholat Syakhi, also known as the Dyatlov's pass. The American Hikers J. P. and Audy are hired as expert climbers for the journey. While, the student film crew consists of Holly, Denise and Jensen.Prior to the hike, the team find out that more bodies were found dead than the reported nine, which only helps to add to the conspiracy that the Russian Government might have been involved in sweeping facts under the rug. With believable acting and an interesting story, while being based around true events, Devil's Pass is definitely worth a watch for horror fans and conspiracy theorists.
David Roggenkamp My first thoughts on this movie were that it was going to be a documentary the likes of Paranormal Activity. As it turns out it was closer to the Blair Witch Project with one notable exception – it is better than the latter in every way. Not only do a bunch of college kids decide to pay homage to some slasher movies, they go out on a trip to Russia to perform a documentary on an accident nearly fifty years prior. As the mystery unravels, they notice footprints in the snow – yet they disappear out of nowhere. My first instinct on hearing it would take place in Russia's mountain regions, was that it would be a Yeti or some kind of Abominable Snowman. I was pleasantly surprised. This movie, as you would expect being in the horror genre, will quickly switch from good times and actual horror. Not only did this movie build up the characters as usual and throw a few misleads, it finally threw things into the full swing. I can't say this is the same for other types of horror movies which sound like boring home videos with a brief scare right at the end. Also, this movie has a few twists that will not be understood until the very few last scenes of the movie. I definitely recommend this for anyone not getting their scare fix for recent movies.Originally posted to Orion Age (http://www.orionphysics.com/? p=2747)
