The Parent Trap Audience Reviews

TrueJoshNight Truly Dreadful Film
Micitype Pretty Good
Siflutter It's easily one of the freshest, sharpest and most enjoyable films of this year.
Bob This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a very long time. You have to go and see this on the big screen.
Matt Greene As corny and ridiculous as all get out...but still, there's an undeniable, good-natured charm to everything thanks to the fluffiness of the tone and a lovely performance by Lohan. And the nanny is the absolute best.
stormhawk2018 I always liked this film, it was innocent and fun, it was a cute movie and I miss Linsey Lohan like this, before she went downhill, when she was an adorable 12 year old who had a promising future and Hallie and Annie, twins in this great remake of the original from 1961, except of course it tries to modernize the story, make it more realistic for today's audience. Dennis Quid is adorable, Natasha Richardson (RIP) is beautiful, Lisa Ann Walter and Simon Kunz who plays Chessy and Martin, respectively were awesome. It's good, actually, but it will never be as good as the original, of course.
Brucey D There are doubtless young folk who will judge this film on its own merits but for the rest of us it is impossible not to compare this film with the original.Viewed in isolation I think it would have been difficult to round up a better cast (they are all basically excellent) and the film is very well made. The tweaks to the plot vs the original do give it a nice twist, too. I did enjoy watching it.But there are problems; firstly the premise is still flawed; what kind of parents would willingly separate their offspring and keep the existence of their identical twin a secret? Second, nice English Girls do not get sent to 'summer camp' in the USA. Third, Lohan's English accent -though very good- isn't quite there. On the subject of accents, I'm sure that Lohan's is good enough for most folk in the USA to be convinced of Englishness, and it isn't distracting (e.g. in a Dick Van Dyke way...) or anything. But it isn't quite there either; I'd give it a 9/10.In hindsight both the lead actress in the original film and this one grew up pretty quickly after making their respective versions. It was only three years later that Hayley Mills turned into the young lady we saw in 'The Truth About Spring' and likewise it wasn't long after this that Lindsay Lohan started 'growing up in public' too. In Lohan's case it is difficult not to view all that as an incredible waste.Anyway, this is a good film, but I think the original version still edges it.
Realrockerhalloween The parent trap is a wonderful treat staring Lindsey Lohan as two twin girl desperately trying to get their parents back together when they find out their dad will remarry. Now the girls have a week to get their parents on the same continent and before the bows are said in less then a week.Lindsey was magnificent in her first major film and blew audience's around the world away. She was cute, innocent and funny. The style is smooth, fast paced and keeps you on your toes. I never saw a remake out do the original and have its one unique story instead of copying it completely.Mar is a superb villain with her rich girl snobbery, evil smirk and over the top threats towards the girls. She makes Cinderella's stepmother look like a stepford life. The parents, Nick and Elizabeth, had chemistry, were cute and enduring as two people still in love with each other yet afraid to admit it.Another aspect I loved was the side story of the help Jesse and Martain as they fall in love helping the girls with their schemes. The parent trap is an excellent family film and highly recommended.
