Tower Block Audience Reviews

PodBill Just what I expected
Lucybespro It is a performances centric movie
TaryBiggBall It was OK. I don't see why everyone loves it so much. It wasn't very smart or deep or well-directed.
Rio Hayward All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.
dexton-84908 Like an episode of The Bill on ketamin...Didn't think much to it at all. Pretty cheap British film. Some OK acting but all done before. Nothing challenging and the whole thing kind of bored me. You know it's not great when you fiddle on your phone instead. If you want a top notch British crime film, don't waste an hour and a half on this, watch the wicked 'Welcome To The Punch' instead. If this were a drink it'd be White Lightening cider.A chavvy 3 out of 10 from me
Elektra Hyde As much as I would like to say this is a good movie, there are things that don't add up in this film. Technically it would have needed more than one sniper to cover the premises even when plenty of surveillance cameras are installed to track the movement of these trapped residents. Let say that tower block has only 18 floors, the highly-trained sniper would need to be somewhere higher than the roof of that building to shoot at the fire hose that the guy was holding onto while climbing down the building on the other side. Since there was only one sniper (obviously it is impossible for him to be staring at and shooting at all four facades of the building at the same time and it didn't seem like the sniper had installed cameras all over the building, those residents could have all gotten down to the first or second floor of the tower block through the elevator shaft and broken into the flats that have windows facing the other side and climbed down from there.
Alex Heaton (azanti0029) This film was added to my DVD collection some time ago on the strength of actor Jack O'Connell being in it but sat there with a load of other films unwatched for some time with life getting in the way.One night when I had a load of friends over I suggested we watched it and this turned out to be a good decision. Set predominately in a Tower Block as the title suggests, a group of neighbours who wouldn't normally socialise find themselves under siege by a sniper with unnerving accuracy. It's only a question of time before they're all picked off unless they can find a way to escape.Put your realism aside for this one, as there's a few plot holes, but this is escapist drama and is clearly here to entertain and keep you on edge and this film does just that. It's well paced, with clear cut characters some who do border on the stereotype but never the less never fail to engage you. All of the actors do well here, but the stand outs are O'Connell and Sheridan Smith who slip in to their roles as the main protagonists quite comfortably. Nunn's direction is sharp and effective and keeps you entertained through out and while the ending is a little bit expected it still not the let down that others would have you believe.A well made fun film that you can watch happily with popcorn for 90 minutes, all four us liked it.
oggalliers I will admit that I found the movie quite enjoyable; however, it's set in a country with some of the harshest gun control laws in the developed world, and the sniper is picking them off with unbelievable accuracy using a suppressed H&K Semi Automatic long range rifle. It's hardly aneurysm inducing surprise when the identity of the killer is revealed…. I'm surprised Christopher fulford didn't get a larger role, given that he's a relatively big actor for a budget movie. As I said, though, the movie was good fun and the emotions and tensions between the characters were presented really well. I thought the old guy gets over his wife's death a little too quickly, though it's not ruining the movie with that. The choice of character for the killer, whilst obvious given the setting and modus operandi, was a refreshing change from the usual angry parent or rival drug gang killers that make up most British horror/thriller movies. Steven Cree is a little typecast in his role. Though, again, it's a great movie to enjoy, with a welcome plot twist, when you can't get to sleep at 4am with your headphones in.
