Dynamixor The performances transcend the film's tropes, grounding it in characters that feel more complete than this subgenre often produces.
AnhartLinkin This story has more twists and turns than a second-rate soap opera.
Roxie The thing I enjoyed most about the film is the fact that it doesn't shy away from being a super-sized-cliche;
lainamikeyever I found the show engaging and quickly got hooked. I loved the retro costumes and came to love some of the characters, but it ends so wretchedly. Do not watch this unless you enjoy being incredibly depressed. I don't mind showing the reality of war but at least give us some happiness. I don't understand the horrible decisions by these writers It sets up all these couples and love stories to get you invested only to needlessly kill off every love interest and give no one but the most unlikable character a happy ending. A lot of acting is also very bad. One character's fake accent in the second season completely took me out of the show. That combined with how sad it ends just made it a miserable thing to watch. Don't waste your time
Laura Davey Why are so many great shows cancelled? This show is Canadian, educational, well-written and extremely entertaining. It's a realistic depiction (without getting too gritty) of life during WWII in the Greater Toronto Area. With the able-bodied men away at war, the women work hard in a rather dangerous factory making bombs (hence the name) and lend a hand to the war effort.The show has many interesting female characters and focuses not only on their work life but their lives outside of the factory as well. The wardrobe is fantastic, the set decoration is very authentic and best of all the show doesn't pretend to take place in the States.I really hope it is saved and picked up for a third season.
EdyNate This predicable series gives little to chance when it clings to the fact that the writers want people to spy on one another and report it to authorities, even though it was and is incorrect to do so. The scripts are simplistically written. You can see problems start and develop, all of which have favorable solutions. It was initially noticeable that the series has an unusually high amount of feminine commentary and companionship. We should never allow nor have spying of neighbors nor family. East Germany suffered the organization of the Stazi who did just this during the USSR occupation. The plots run along a simple structure with simple solution, which are very unrealistic.
ddardis Love the show..i think every Canadian should watch and see what really went on in this Country..and how we stepped up when we had to...!Looking forward to weekly episodes and more..great writing and acting, nothing is held back,no sugar coating for T.V I like the aggressive aspect,so you know how it was for these ladies,my grandmother worked the steel plant during the war,when my grandfather was overseas,The forgotten Canadians contributed so much it is nice they do get the recognition they deserve in shows like this,again to remind us how thankful we should be and how lucky we are.Hoping for more.Thank You
