Tedfoldol everything you have heard about this movie is true.
Logan By the time the dramatic fireworks start popping off, each one feels earned.
reid296 The preposterously stupid conviction in the first five minutes or so of this show completely put me off from watching the rest of the series. I only made it to the end of the first episode. How is ANYONE supposed to believe that this kid blew IN a window from INSIDE of the room, then butchered an entire classroom of 29 students and their teacher? Would none of the other students have opposed him? Any forensic investigation of the crime scene would have exonerated Ganta completely, but then we wouldn't have a show. No, obviously it was rigged and it was obvious that the creator of the series wanted us to see that. However, it's handling was so heavy handed and inept that it was offensive. If the people killed had been killed in a believable way, then MAYBE I'd have bothered watching the rest of the series. As it stands, I have no confidence in the creator's ability to put together any narrative that makes sense. Save yourself the head scratching and/or frustration and avoid this series.
RecapAnime Deadman Wonderland is a anime that some might find a bit to dark and probably offensive in some ways. But this anime is really good for what its worth. I really liked the idea behind the story right from the beginning and the show did not hold back when developing the plot. What gives this anime bonus points is the violence. From a class room slaughter to decapitation, when push comes to shove this anime doesn't hold back. Also the characters are perfect in this anime and I personally thought the dubbed actors/actresses were excellent. One problem I had is that the anime didn't feel like it was finished, the so called ending was good but so many questions were left unanswered and apparently this anime didn't do to good in Japan so its most likely this anime will end up being like "Highschool of the Dead". In other words not getting a second season.
kierstynle Deadman Wonderland is definitely a great anime, filled with lots of action, gore, and psychological themes. However, it is not a show for kids. It contains lots of violence, plenty of gore, and strong profanity. The main character is Ganta Igurashi, a normal teenage boy. However, his entire class is slaughtered and he is the sole suspect. All evidence points to him (even though he is totally innocent), and he is sent to Deadman Wonderland, Japan's only private-run prison. This is no ordinary prison. Prisoners can participate in deadly obstacle courses and games, with the reward being 'cast point's, the prison currency. At the prison we meet Shiro, a mysterious and very eccentric girl who we learn is Ganta's childhood friend. Ganta finds out he has a power called Branches of Sin, which allows him to control his blood. He vows to destroy the person who killed his friends, whom he calls The Red Man, with his newfound power. This anime is very gory and intense, but I highly recommend it as it is an awesome anime.
Tweekums This anime has been one of the best of the season; it has drama, interesting characters and rather a lot of gore! The protagonist is a school boy called Ganta; he is the sole survivor of an attack on his class at school, unfortunately for him he finds himself framed for their murder and is sentenced to death in a strange prison. This prison is like no other; it is called 'Deadman Wonderland and the inmates are forced to compete in strange gladiatorial events where death is likely! Ganta has been given a poison and if he is to survive he must win one of these events every three days. He soon learns that something strange has happened to him; he now possesses a strange skill known as 'branches of sin' which enables him to use his blood as weapon. He isn't the only such prisoner there and if he is to survive he must learn to use his skill. Inside he meets a strange white haired girl named Shiro; she acts in an almost childlike way but frequently manages to save Ganta. Ganta is determined to find the person responsible for the death of his school friends but to do that he first has to escape and that will not be easy.I'd certainly recommend this series to people looking for something a little different so long as you aren't bothered by the sight of copious amounts of blood. Ganta is not a particularly heroic main character but that doesn't mean he isn't interesting even if he does whine a bit too much. The enigmatic Shiro is a more interesting character though as we knew so little about her. Tsunenaga Tamaki; the assistant warden of the prison makes a great villain as he is both sadistic and more than a little mad. The animation and character designs were both good helping make the unbelievable situation believable. The final episode didn't wrap everything up so I'm hoping that there will be further series of this excellent anime. If this series sounds interesting to you it can currently be watched legally on Crunchyroll. These comments are based on watching the series in Japanese with English subtitles.
