ReaderKenka Let's be realistic.
FuzzyTagz If the ambition is to provide two hours of instantly forgettable, popcorn-munching escapism, it succeeds.
StyleSk8r At first rather annoying in its heavy emphasis on reenactments, this movie ultimately proves fascinating, simply because the complicated, highly dramatic tale it tells still almost defies belief.
ntpixx It was initially intriguing and an interesting premise... but after 3 or 4 episodes the writing degenerated rapidly, and disgustingly so. Things stated at the beginning of an episode were belied by the end of the episode. A child with Doe's DNA starts a manhunt for the "real father" for instance, who may or may not be Doe.That was only the most dramatic plot hole in a series so full of plot holes that episodes became impossible to follow. After the first couple episodes I was intrigued. By the time I got to the the sixth I was not just bored but insulted and haven't watched any since.
redbeard_nv From the talented casting of Aussie Dominick Purcell as the color blind man with the head filled with enough facts for a dozen Jeopardy Tournament of Champions contestants, the show started with a mystery and ended with a major cliffhanger, along the way providing enough of a distraction with various encounters with the so-called criminal geniuses of Seattle, while giving the viewer a more than reasonably entertaining back story of the shadowy group who communicated by sign language in order to never be bugged or overheard. But what the real mystery was that as intriguing as the show was, right up to its cliffhanger season conclusion, is the usually unexplained habit the Fox network had of canceling shows that had a following, often as if they deliberately wanted to kill the show off (one case in point is the "Firefly" debacle).I often wish that somebody involved in the project would sit down and write a novel or two to help close 'the open doors left swinging in the wind by Fox capricious hatchet job on its own programming schedule.
Ronald A. King This show had all the makings of a great series; good plot and back story, characters you cared about and a "feel good" resolution each week. A "Lost" before there was one. But like a lot of good series that Fox didn't know what to do with, it was cancelled. But maybe this one wasn't Fox's fault. The end of the series came for me when they killed off one of the best characters it had. Karen did NOT have to die to move the plot forward. It would have been better to have John Doe chase the Phoenix group around for a few more episodes trying to rescue her and Theresa, the unknown woman from the ferry he tried to track down for the first half of the show. The weird airing schedule didn't help much either. You never knew if you were to see a new episode or an old re-run when you tuned in. Only one new episode in February? During Sweeps? Can you say "shoot my foot?" At least they were able to work for a year, most of them anyway.
spiritguideandhelper I recently saw John Doe on the SciFi Channel and I found it intellectually stimulating, not only that it wasn't boring. The depth of his character is amazing, the intensity with which Dominic Purcell plays John Doe is astounding and deep. If you watch you will see a great deal more to this show than most out there, it is profound it is own way yet..it has the necessary motivation conducive to the profile set out for the show. In other words it's great, it's a crime show that show and touches on the depths of humanity and brings mystery, drama and action, thrills. Heck of a lot better than Law and Order (any unit). The Music is beautiful, it's one of the top crime shows on my list i'd watch. It's very cool!
