deanna-53391 Haha this show is great! There are really no better words for this than what the new full house should have been. This is pretty much full house if everyone was hispanic instead of white but without the white target audience and with a few hilarious adult undertones. Even my brother who usually only watches fighting, racing, and other stereotypically boy shows, say this show and now we watchbit together. It focuses on family while gathering around the family and it has small morals, every episode is a new deliemma while still relatable (XD they even use actual labels like the kid selling World's Finest chocolate bars for school fundings). There is sad moments but they properly pick you up with comedy and they do not let the comedy drown the sad moments or seriousness out. I love how they took someone who is a white hipster (who is just so obsessed with being a part of their family) and added him to a very cultural cuban family.

silverturquoise I grew up watching Norman Lear shows, and it's really cool to be watching this reimagining of the original One Day at a Time with my teenage daughter. We both love this show, and I think that speaks volumes to how hilarious and relatable the characters and episodes are. It takes talent to create a show that is compelling across a 40 year difference in age! In particular, we really like the reimagining of the family as Cuban-American, and the single mom being a combat veteran. The writing on all episodes is superb - hilarious, heartwarming, and yet still thought provoking with regard to current issues in families and in our country. They've handled so many hot topics in various episodes, and done so in a thoughtful way. The entire cast is simply amazing - each actress and actor makes a very special contribution to the show. Hats off to both Rita Moreno and Norman Lear who are still going strong.

yerlo I really really wanted to like this show. I like stereotype ethnic humor and this promised to deliver. I'm a fan of Rita Moreno so got a kick out her ethnic role and her thick slightly exaggerated accent but she still made her lines intelligible. That is a talent. It soon went off the rails. The mother is a former soldier who is married to a soldier but is estranged. He went on another tour in the mid-east so she broke up the family because it was just so hard on her somehow. Hey, she was a soldier, she married a soldier. Now she is such a wimp that she rips up the family???? An insult to every soldier's wife (or husband) and a lousy message. Then her daughter is all into feminism and equality and standing up and junk. The daughter is smarter than everyone else with her social message and virtue signaling and she straightens up everyone else. Insult to parents.Then the mother decides to take prescription drugs for her, what? Depression or some such? Another bad message in that. Life is tough, it presents challenges. You develop strength and find ways to overcome and thrive, not dive into drugs. I guess it's another message thrown in the audience's face. The daughter has such a crappy attitude that she refuses a Quinceanera based on, well, being a little snot. But then her mother in agreeing with her somehow provides a reason for the daughter to have a Quinceanera because all she wanted was a reason to have one. It's was stupid! I live in an ethnic stew and saw grand possibilities for a fun sitcom. It did not deliver. Too bad. So we quit watching about 3-4 episodes. Don't need to see weak characters. Don't need to see kids smarter than everyone around them. Don't need to be lectured on social agendas. I'll watch re-runs of The Middle and enjoy good entertainment.
