Info

The story of an unassuming American family drawn into the workings of a turbulent Middle Eastern nation. Bassam "Barry" Al Fayeed, the younger son of the dictator of a war-torn nation, ends a self-imposed 20-year exile to return to his homeland, accompanied by his American wife and children, for his nephew's wedding. Barry’s reluctant homecoming leads to a dramatic clash of cultures as he is thrown back into the familial and national politics of his youth.

Tyrant Audience Reviews

BootDigest Such a frustrating disappointment
Ploydsge just watch it!
KnotStronger This is a must-see and one of the best documentaries - and films - of this year.
Dana An old-fashioned movie made with new-fashioned finesse.
imdb-646 My wife and I really enjoyed watching Tyrant. That is, till season 3. Then it just got ridiculous. So the eight stars are for the first two seasons. Season 3 ended with one star.
goldenshuttle The show writer & director failed because of poor knowledge and prejudice about Middle East traditions. Even the Arabic banners in the background are randomly chosen without knowing what they mean. This show gives a totally wrong sense of what Middle East is or was. I advice writer and director to choose topics without prejudice..Be professional and do research before you cater this misleading nonsense.
ChristopherAdamPotes I have only watched the first season and two episodes of the second season, so my review is based on this more limited portion of the series. The vast mass of people that provide the backdrop in this series live in a world of poverty. The focus of the show, the ruling family and its close relations, live in a world of wealth accumulated through oil.The drama that unfolds and the ensuing dilemmas that each character must face are well thought out. The most minute details are shared, along with their thoughts and feelings. The only detraction to the series, is the wife and children of the protagonist, Barry. His wife is inept, obnoxious, and provides little value either to him or to the show. Her lines are either banal platitudes or trite complaints. This is in contrast to his sister-in-law, Leila. Every line has an importance. Her views may be incorrect or immoral, but they add substance.Overall, I am very much a fan of this show and give it a 9/10.
Emma Sabri I don't necessarily agree with the political views but the human psychology aspect and the development of the plot are amazing. Kudos to the creators of the series. The acting, the decor and costumes, the cast and the screen writing are gorgeous. The show is getting better and better by every episode.Although I'm yearning for fast solution, I don't want it to end. I hope they will stay on air for a long time cause otherwise I'm gonna miss it. I strongly recommend the show and hope you enjoy it as much as I do. it is a journey to the depths of a human soul.
