The Netflix docuseries sensation “Making a Murderer” took home the trophy for Outstanding Documentary Series early Sunday night.

In what came as a surprise to no one, executive producers Laura Ricciardi and Moira Demos accepted their trophies during Sunday night’s Creative Arts Emmy Awards. The documentary series has been widely acclaimed since its debut last December, and it’s already picked up three additional trophies as well (for editing, directing and writing).

In the Outstanding Documentary Special category, Netflix scored again with “What Happened, Miss Simone?” The documentary feature on American singer, pianist, and civil rights activist Nina Simone was nominated for an Oscar earlier this year. At this ceremony, however, it won.

Heading into tonight’s ceremony — the second night of the Creative Arts awards presentation — Netflix only had one win (“Marvel’s Jessica Jones,” which took home gold for Outstanding Main Title Design). The popular streaming network trailed their top competitor, Amazon, which had won four.

The Creative Arts Emmy Awards honor outstanding artistic and technical achievement in a variety of television program genres, guest performances in weekly series, as well as exceptional work in the animation, reality and documentary categories. This year, there are two ceremonies being held to hand out all the awards — on Saturday, September 10 and Sunday, September 11. FXX will air the highlights on Saturday, September 17 at 8pm, and the 68th Primetime Emmy Awards will be televised live the following evening, Sunday, September 18 at 8pm.
