Chaos Walking: The story is boring and the genre is outdated

Chaos Walking, starring Tom Spidey and directed by Doug Lyman, is an adaptation of the 2008 science fiction novel that was filmed in 2017 and finally released recently. For dystopian movies like this, I wasn't particularly interested, mainly because Doug Lyman and Max Mikkelsen were coming to see the movie

When it comes to dystopian films, most of them are adapted from novels, and The most successful one in this genre is The Hunger Games series. However, that happened a long time ago. Although there were many subsequent works that tried to follow The trend, it is a pity that almost all of them failed. I think in terms of the subject matter, it's kind of outdated. If it's a novel, it might be ok, but if it's adapted into a movie, the interest of the audience is slowly declining, and this "Chaos Walking" is the same reason, it just doesn't come at the right time. If you think about it, even if it was released five years earlier, it would probably still be a failure.

We all know that movies like this can never be done in one episode, and Chaos Walking is the first in a series, and the novel is a trilogy, so the question is, what if they're not sure if the first episode is going to be a success, but they try to do the first episode as a trilogy? That first episode left a lot of details unexplained, and the plot seemed a little random, not to mention building a worldview. It was only two hours long, and Chaos Walking seemed to be shot that way. So we have no idea what this new world of men listening to each other's inner voices, women being hunted by men, or even what this world is doing? After watching the whole movie, you still don't know what it's about.

I am not against trilogy as macro photography idea, but the Chaos there, too rough and even today sure there will be the second set, and almost won't let a person look forward to, because the first set is too boring, it should let people care about the overhead of the world, but did not, in view of the inner noise that, in fact, I feel very interesting, But the film also does not play this part well, if the whole film take this out, there is almost no deduction or bonus room, this is the most deadly place.

But going back to what I was hoping for, which was the director and Max Mikkelsen, I can only describe it as disappointing. There are almost no big scenes. Mads Mikkelsen doesn't have any acting room, and he even plays a villain with no charm, and the main character is mediocre, which makes the already poor new world seem even less interesting.

Chaos Walking, on the whole, is outdated, the story isn't pretty enough, and even the actors you know can't save the movie from a low rating. If you want to see Mads Mikkelsen, I suggest Another Round. That's our best actor.
