Disney+ has 116 million subscribers and will launch in Hong Kong and Taiwan by the end of the year

According to foreign media reports, Disney Has announced that its streaming platform Disney+ will launch in South Korea, Hong Kong and Taiwan in November, further expanding its business in the Asia-Pacific region. Those three markets are expected to generate nearly 5 million subscribers and $330 million in revenue for Disney+ by the end of 2022, according to projections.


Currently, Disney+ is available in Australia, New Zealand, Japan and Singapore in the Asia-Pacific region, while The streaming service is called Disney+ Hotstar in India, Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand.


In the third quarter ended July 3, Disney+ racked up 116 million subscribers worldwide, double the 58 million subscribers of a year earlier, beating Wall Street analysts' expectations and outpacing competitors like Netflix. Disney+ added 12 million subscribers in its most recent quarter and plans to have 240 million to 260 million subscribers worldwide by the end of 2024, five years after Disney+ launched.


In addition to Disney+, ESPN+ and Hulu also continued strong growth, with 14.9 million subscribers for ESPN+ and 42.8 million subscribers for Hulu, bringing the total number of Disney streaming subscribers worldwide to nearly 174 million.
