The Pretty Little Liars series was originally produced for Disney Freeform's Warner Horizon Television. The TV series was launched by ABC Family in 2010 and continues until 2017. The new series follows a new group of teenage girls who find themselves tortured by an unknown assailant because of something their parents did 20 years ago.

"We can't wait for Robert and Lindsay to create more murders, secrets and scandals in the world of Pretty Little Liars," says Sarah Aubrey, head of original content at HBO Max.

"We are fans of Ina Marlene King and her iconic cast, and we knew we had to treat the original as a classic and do something different. So we're bringing suspense and horror to the remake, hoping to reflect what fans have come to love about the hit show, as well as some unexpected new elements."

Pretty Little Liars:The Perfectionists is a collaboration between Aguirre Sacasa's Muckle Man Productions and Alloy Entertainment, Warner Bros. Produced by Entertainment. Alloy's Leslie Morgan Steiner and Girolamo are also executive producers on the show.
