icarly: Carly reveals why Sam is not coming back with her

By Chilimovie - 28 June 2021

Sam Puckett was briefly mentioned at the iCarly revival premiere on June 17. Carly revealed Sam's whereabouts in a conversation with Freddie. "I just want to do it again," Carly admitted. Freddie replied: "You don't need a partner to do this."

Carly replied: "Yes, I don't need a partner. I need Sam. But she doesn't want to enjoy happiness with the bike gang." The bike gang is called The Obliterators. "I hope she's okay," Freddie admitted. Carly quipped, "It's Sam. I hope they're okay."

Sam's absence is not surprising. Janet McCurdy is well aware of her revival before retiring from acting. "I quit a few years ago [2017] because I didn't want to do it at first," Jennette admitted in an interview with Anna Faris in March 2021. "My mother put me in when I was six years old. According to my age, I guess it was 10 or 11 years old. I was the main breadwinner of the family. My family does not have a lot of money. This is the way out. I actually think it has Helped me to achieve a certain degree of success."

Jennette was the original actor during iCarly's initial run, and later added that she was "ashamed" of past acting roles. "I am dissatisfied with my profession in many ways. I am very dissatisfied with the role I play, and think it is the most tacky and embarrassing. I made my show from 13 to 21 years old to 15 years old. I was already embarrassed by that time."

Nathan Kress, Miranda Cosgrove and Jerry Trainor all returned to participate in the revival.

Jerry Trainor and Nathan Kress both return to Paramount + Revival as Spencer and Freddie. They told HollywoodLife exclusively that they supported Janet's decision not to come back.

"She decided to move on, we are very proud of her, very happy for her, we miss her," Jerry told HollywoodLife. "In this world, she is part of our family. But having said that, it provides us with space to introduce new characters, have new voices, and move in a direction that I think is unexpected and possibly popular."
