The Power of the Dog reveals new stills

Recently, the film The Power of the Dog, which has just been selected as the main competition unit of the Venice Film Festival, has exposed a still starring Benedict Cumberbatch. In the stills, Juan Fu is wearing a cowboy hat, standing in a desert background. The sun shines from an oblique direction, making the whole scene very empty and lonely.

The film is adapted from Thomas Savage’s 1967 novel of the same name. The protagonist is a pair of brothers from Montana, USA. The two have completely opposite personalities. The older brother played by Benny is elegant, clever, and cruel, while the younger brother played by Jesse is indifferent, picky, and gentle. Together they own the largest farm in the Montana Valley. When the younger brother secretly married a local widow (Kirsten Dunst), the angry and shocked brother launched a merciless war against the younger brother and sister-in-law in order to destroy her, and even treated the widow’s son as Made a chess piece. In addition to Juan Fu and Kirsten Dunst, Jesse Plemont also joined the crew. Interestingly, in reality, Jesse Plemont is Kirsten Dunst’s fiance.

Previously, The Power of the Dog changed its cast due to cast schedule issues. Kirsten Dunst joined the crew because of his replacement. Elizabeth Moss was originally scheduled to star in the film, but Moss withdrew due to a schedule conflict in The Handmaid's Tale. This husband and wife file achieves the same frame in The Power of the Dog in a coincidental and interesting way. The director of the film, Jane Campion, won the Cannes Palme d'Or for Piano Lesson in 1993. In recent years, the female director has not produced many works. In 2013, she filmed the drama The Power of the Dog, and The Power of the Dog is her latest film work.

According to the arrangement, the film will participate in this year's Venice Film Festival, and will participate in the New York Film Festival on October 1. Subsequently, the film will be online on Netflix.
