The self-salvation of the female killer

Spoiler alert

As an action movie, the rhythm is too slow, the plot is too buggy, and the ending can be said to be nondescript. But the literary dramas criticized by many people moved me deeply. I can only say that if the rhythm is balanced, the heaviness of this movie will be better shown. The most ingenious part of the film is probably the vague outline of each character's image through the character's language.

The female killer in the title is not only Ava, but also Simon's daughter.

Let's start with Ava.

A genius girl who abused alcohol and drugs, was betrayed by her family, joined the army in anger and embarked on a path of no return. Ava's original family is twisted but tightly connected. The mother and daughter hurt each other but cannot be parted because of their blood. For this family, it is no longer important to find out who was wrong. How to heal the pain of the past and continue to go on has become the top priority.

With regard to life, Ava has a sense of powerlessness, just like her mother tells the truth that she is trying to ignore while playing cards. Sometimes there is nowhere to escape the oncoming pain and no cure for it. Killing became the only catharsis, leaving everything behind, becoming a new self, without worrying about the future.

But everything in the film pushes Ava to the abyss step by step. He picked up the wine glass countless times but put it down again, healing his wounds over and over again, until he had no strength anymore, and finally fell into the abyss.

For Ava, she has been looking for someone who can save her from this vortex, family, ex-boyfriend, teacher. If the mentor is the only one who holds Ava's hand to prevent her from falling into the abyss, then his death is undoubtedly the last force to push Ava into the abyss. So after Ava lost her life mentor and father-like teacher, although she said harsh words, she wanted to elope with her ex-boyfriend for the first time.

But in the process of all these awful things, Ava gradually realized that he was the only one who could save himself. It's like she put down her wine glass again and again, like she was fighting for herself again and again, like she insisted on her moral bottom line, like she let go of the female boss of the casino. If one person can pull her out of the abyss, it is herself.

This redemption culminated when Ava killed Simon, and the movie came to an end.

Let's talk about Simon's daughter.

The daughter of the leader of the killer organization is never lack of material, and seems to be trained as the next successor. But Simon said in front of her that she would not let her youngest daughter participate in the organization, because this is not what a lady should do. The camera flashed across her face, pain, confusion, and even resentment. The father did not shy away from her, and beat her heart hard. In her conversation with Simon, it can be known that her mother and Simon have been separated. She has no mother to rely on and can only hold on to her father tightly.

Her feelings for her father Simon are very complicated, both love and hate, but perhaps countless soft kisses on the forehead made her finally decide to pick up the gun and chase the killer who killed her father.

The movie came to an abrupt end here. It was self-evident who lost and who won, but the director did not continue. Because the director didn't care about this battle, the characters he wanted to create had already been created.

Ava and Simon's daughter are very similar. Their experience, their pain, their struggle... It's better to say that the daughter is the Ava of the past. She hasn't found the huge energy contained in her heart, and she is still struggling to explore.

This collision of two similar souls is more interesting to me, but the director stopped here, which can only be said to be a pity. When Ava sees a girl so similar to herself, will she feel compassionate?

The director is so committed to creating such a three-dimensional female killer that the rhythm is so uncomfortable, but it can be said that he succeeded. Ava is a killer, but she is also a person. Not only does she have the thrill of fighting and killing, she also has a messy life. The daughter is a rookie killer. She has a material life that others envy, but she also has another life that is unknown. Sometimes she hopes her father loves her more. They are suffering and perplexed, yet they endure strong. Through them, the director showed the audience that in addition to the exciting work, the killer also has a life full of hope and despair, which is no different from other people.

It's not easy to be a killer these days.
