Bea Swanson This film is so real. It treats its characters with so much care and sensitivity.
Abbigail Bush what a terribly boring film. I'm sorry but this is absolutely not deserving of best picture and will be forgotten quickly. Entertaining and engaging cinema? No. Nothing performances with flat faces and mistaking silence for subtlety.
Raghuvardhan-N Without doubt a cult classic of a generation of Telugu movie lovers. Jandhyala, although quite a phenomenon with a great body of work which can be termed as classics, peaks with his comedic touch in this movie. Each and every character has been etched to perfection to make the movie a handbook guide for comedy movie making. The comedy bears the distinct Jandhyala trademark - healthy, simple telugu, characters pacing about about with their own idiosyncrasies creating hilarious situations that move the movie forward. The usual bunch - Veerabhadra Rao, Sutti Velu, Naresh(hero), Nutan Prasan, Poornima, Srilakshmi - give their finest performances with comedic touch that is indisputably Jandhyala. If you know Telugu, then this would be the first DVD that I would buy for the keeps.A comedy classic. Period.
mvssr75 I too agree that it is a wonderfully made, outright entertainer comedy in Telugu. This movie can be placed in top 10 all time great comedy stuff in Telugu. The highlight of the movie is the encounter between "Sutthi Veerbadra rao & Rallapalli (in drunk state). Also the movie highlights typical family atmosphere of Andhara Region. The only part i did not feel interested is, all the scenes related to heroine and family. Its not that they were boring, but serious contrary to the comedy track of the rest of the movie I am trying for its CD (or) DVD.
venkates I have seen over 10,000 movies in over 25 languages. This movie is in my list of top 10 comedy movies anywhere. I never tire of watching it - again and again. However, the movie will be entirely lost on someone who is not a native of Andhra Pradesh, its culture, and most importantly the language.A genre creating, mold breaking movie with superb direction supported by excellent acting. When this movie came out, most of the actors were relative unknowns. Comedy equaled slapstick routines and overacting previously typically segued from the rest of the plot line. In Srivariki Premalekha, comedy was situational and intricately woven into the plot line. There were only a handful of movies that previously could have qualified for this. Misamma, Gundamma Katha are two that come to mind.
