For the members of the comedy troupe Asperger’s Are Us, it’s easier to associate with a faceless audience than with their own families. No matter who the crowd, best friends Noah, New Michael, Jack and Ethan have one simple mantra: “We would much rather the audience appreciate us as comedians than people who have overcome adversity.” In this coming-of-age heartfelt documentary, this band of brothers finds themselves at a crossroad. With real life pulling them apart, they decide to plan one ambitious farewell show before they all go their separate ways. People with Asperger’s don’t deal well with uncertainty, and this is the most uncertain time in their lives.

Asperger's Are Us Audience Reviews

KnotMissPriceless Why so much hype?
Lovesusti The Worst Film Ever
Kidskycom It's funny watching the elements come together in this complicated scam. On one hand, the set-up isn't quite as complex as it seems, but there's an easy sense of fun in every exchange.
ThedevilChoose When a movie has you begging for it to end not even half way through it's pure crap. We've all seen this movie and this characters millions of times, nothing new in it. Don't waste your time.
subxerogravity Informative and touching. Asperger's Are Us hits the mark right on the nose.Very uncompromising in approach, I can sense the realness to it, as it was very raw and very unpolished. Four young men with Asperger's become friends and start a comedy troupe . The movie takes place as the troop prepares for it's last show. I feel like I got to learn a lot about autism from a group of people who actually have and can explain it, which is a better way to learn. But most importantly, I got to know these four dudes on a personal level. One of my favorite parts of the film was when one of the subjects, New Micheal, compared them to the Beatles where as Noah, who is a little older and more Experience dealing with the world around him seems like the John of the group, New Micheal, who I respect for being so open with his insecurities, wants everyone to known he's the Paul of the group. It was a great leg to start the movie off in explaining the interaction between these two.The documentary is amazing in the fact that it does nothing to make these guys better than they already are. It was important to see them living normal lives like normal human beings to completely understand what it's like to have Asperger's.Very well done.
JustCuriosity Asperger's Are Us was warmly received in its world premiere at Austin's SXSW Film Festival. It is a beautiful little film about what it is like to enter adulthood still dealing with Asperger's. We often hear about children and rarely hear about happens to those kids as they enter adulthood. This shows these young still struggling, but basically making it. Their effort to perform comedy – a difficult skill for Aspies – is inspiring. While their comedy is not all that funny in many ways, their efforts to work together and achieve something creative are powerful. For those of us who don't have a lot of experience with Aspies it is a great way to learn about their struggles. The filmmakers captured a lot of their intimate interactions as they rehearsed together. I appreciated their bravery in sharing their story with the world. The film is well-made and well-edited.
