Two traffic officers on a quiet morning shift try to stop a car for speeding. When the car finally pulls over, the driver gets out and shoots at them, killing one of the officers in cold blood. A national alert is issued and an extensive search for the ruthless killer begins, with the Beck group at the lead. Neither the officer’s shocked and wounded colleague nor any of the witnesses have seen anything helpful to the police. Finally, they find the car registration number using a surveillance camera. But, when they enter the car owner’s apartment, they find him shot to death. The first day of summer is a long one for the Beck group, as the killer has more victims on his list.

Beck: The Last Day Audience Reviews

Jeanskynebu the audience applauded
Smartorhypo Highly Overrated But Still Good
Acensbart Excellent but underrated film
Marva It is an exhilarating, distressing, funny and profound film, with one of the more memorable film scores in years,
Tweekums As this episode opens two police officers are chatting as they check for speeding drivers; a car speeds past so they give chase and eventually catch it. Then things go horribly wrong; before they can react the man gets out of the car and opens fire on then killing one and injuring the other. Meanwhile Beck has approached his new boss and told him that he intends to retire… something that is put on hold when news of the shooting comes in. The police quickly trace the shooter's car but it turns out he had stolen it after shooting the owner in his home. None of the witnesses can identify the killer so the police look for anybody with a motive; the first suspect is the dead man's ex-wife's new boyfriend who runs when they go to see him… unfortunately he is not the killer though. After a lucky break they manage to identify the killer but it is a race against time to catch him before he can reach his ultimate target; the school that had recently fired him. This was a solid conclusion to the season that could possibly be the final episode as Beck has stated his intention to retire… although thankfully the conclusion left open the possibility of him changing his mind. The story itself was gripping; we may know the killer is from the start but his motives and ultimate intent doesn't become apparent for quite some time. Simon J. Berger does a fine job as the killer; he plays the character as a shy loner and there is a feeling that he could be a danger to anybody who crosses him in any way. Throughout the episode there are plenty of tense moments leading up to the inevitable final confrontation. Away from the case viewers may be concerned about the lack of Beck's bizarre neighbour but worry not; he appears in the final scene and is as funny as ever! As the episode came to an end one question remained surprisingly unanswered; we were shown that a woman the killer shot was still alive but have no idea whether or not she will be found before it is too late. Overall I found this a really good episode; I hope it isn't the final episode but if it is it would be a decent ending.
