Penny and Sam work for a notoriously mean spirited, selfish, and somewhat abusive big fish Hollywood producer, MJ Siegel. They run a day's worth of outrageous and demoralizing errands for her, and end up turning on one another when Penny's movie idea is stolen, pitched, and sold to MJ by Sam as her own idea. - Written by David Krumholtz

Big Breaks Audience Reviews

Cortechba Overrated
Pluskylang Great Film overall
Moustroll Good movie but grossly overrated
Lidia Draper Great example of an old-fashioned, pure-at-heart escapist event movie that doesn't pretend to be anything that it's not and has boat loads of fun being its own ludicrous self.
Rodrigo Amaro Even short movies are sums of its parts, like movies, but I gotta say "Big Breaks" was a strange film worthy of attention with its final moments since beginning and middle were really uninteresting. David Krumholtz film explores the battle to succeed in the movie business by dealing with talentless and shallow people only concerned with their self images and their sexual reputations with many stars as possible, a world of gossips and back stabbings. In this world, two great friends try to sell their first film project to a potential director at the same time they're under appreciated working next to one of the top film executives in the industry. It works as a cross between "Swimming with the Sharks" and "The Devil Wears Prada" (Jane Lynch's characterization as a powerful Hollwyood producer mirrors Miranda Wealsey and once again we have two female interns trying to please their devilish boss and with luck get ahead in the business by making their own project). Less funny or critical than those movies, "Big Breaks" value comes in seeing Krumholtz directing his "10 Things I Hate About You" co-star Joe Gordon-Levitt (ok, he was cool play a hyped film director) and the giant rant involving one of the interns which is hilariously funny and one of those moments where you imagine yourself doing to ruthless people one day. Manageable picture. 6/10
