Moustroll Good movie but grossly overrated
Onlinewsma Absolutely Brilliant!
TrueHello Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.
Terry Meyer This was a surprisingly good short film. I love the fact that they don't conform to trying to make it understandable for everyone. It is hard to understand some of the dialogue, but I enjoy that because it makes it more realistic instead of trying to change it and make it more appealing to everyone. It is very realistic and has a good depiction of how growing up can be in their area. Also, the fact that it is basically a visual of his album "My Krazy Life" is a plus. It was very entertaining and kept you wondering what would happen. I had some doubts about how this movie was going to turn out based on the little promotion and the short amount of time, but the short time was great because it kept your attention the entire time without being to long to where you lose interest.
Horst in Translation (filmreviews@web.de) First of all, there is no artistry included in this film at all. There is one good thing, however, namely that it is pretty short does not even reach the 30-minute mark. It would have been pretty painful to sit through any more of this rubbish. The two directors have never directed a movie before and it really shows. Apparently the star in here is YG, a rapper I guess? I am not familiar with him at all, but he plays himself, so I guess he must be known to some, or just thinks he is. In any case I assume that he is not important enough in real life to be shot at, so he just uses his name in this film as someone who is shot at by fellow black men. Pay attention how I did not use the N-word here although I probably should. After all, the characters in this film use it all the time and it's actually pretty racist that I may not be allowed to use it only because of my color.Oh there is another good thing about this film actually. Apparently there are versions out there which have subtitles from start to finish as without these it's almost impossible to understand all the ghetto slang here. Not that you actually would be missing much as the dialog is pretty much rubbish from start to finish. The worst thing about this film, however, is that it's really racist towards black men. It's basically full of stereotypes that racist people have about black people. Apparently, they aren't working, always just driving around in their cars and stirring up trouble. They shoot at each other, beat each other up, break into rich people's houses, flee from incompetent white cops... Yep it's racist towards Whites as well. And the very worst thing is that we are supposed to feel for them and be happy for them when, in the end, they pretty much all get away and can commit further crimes in the future. Blame it in the Streets? I don't think so. I blame it on the criminal energy of these people regardless of what color they have. Nobody is born into crime. I also blame it on the makers of this movie and the actors that this half hour is one complete failure. Highly not recommended.
jamelwhite The movie has no point . YG friends get shot at . They go retaliate and other guys seem not to recognize an enemy they shot at 30 minutes ago and converse with them like old friends then get shot . After this YG and his gang decide to break into a house and bungle the capper and get arrested . Screen goes dark for a minute and the gang is inexplicably back together To spend few Gs at pawn shop and rob a customer . THE END is rather watch BIRDEMIC twice before I'd see this again . The dialogue consist of words like Bracken and Nigga . Bloods are not allowed to say words that begin with the letter C . Shame on whoever produced this . YG make ignorant music witch he calms art and decided to translate it to film . Soon he'll be keeping it real in jail where he belongs
