Alicia I love this movie so much
ThiefHott Too much of everything
TrueHello Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.
Kaydan Christian A terrific literary drama and character piece that shows how the process of creating art can be seen differently by those doing it and those looking at it from the outside.
dreameyes101 This was an excellent movie for a low-budget Canadian flick. I really think a different title and description would get it more exposure. It was not at all what I had expected based on the title and description, so the same is likely true for you.The movie gave me a lot of food for thought. Unfortunately without giving spoilers, I can't elaborate. It is a bit dark - so take that as a warning. The lead actress was awesome. She was entirely credible in the role. I understand she was 'accidentally' cast and the choice of putting her in this role was a solid call. It's a shame that movies like this get buried while Hollywood trash does 100+ million at box office.
dbre This was a bizarre movie that took some interesting twists and turns. It left me numb at the end, not sure how I should feel about it. I guess that is why I wrote this right after the end of the movie. This is the type of movie that you need to mentally chew on for a while to grasp the scope, motivations and reactions of the characters. This could even be good for a second viewing which I rarely do. This would help you see the movie from the other side of the mysteriousness This is quite an interesting premise. It goes to places you don't expect it to go and where you end up is probably not where you expect to end up.I think for an interesting project, they should give the script to five or six different directors and then take them to a certain point in the movie. Then, just step back and let them take it from there. This is the type of movie that would turn into five or six equally satisfying yet different movies if that idea was followed. That is the type of movie this is.I gave it 7 stars for the creativity and thoughtfulness of the premise. It was enough to look past the acting. I'm not saying the acting was bad, it was actually quite good in places, but I have never been a judge of acting. The movie stimulates your curiosity enough that you can look past the performances. Someone else will need to comment on that.I will say that I wouldn't mind seeing the leading lady more. She is pleasant to look at and believable. Even as I write this it is growing on me, but I'm quite easily entertained :)
trishstrand2 I enjoyed this film. Excellent performances and an absorbing drama where the ending was not predictable. In my opinion, it is of higher quality than many of the heavily promoted high budget Hollywood movies.I read about it in a pharmacy journal, of all places, where the film was mentioned because the main character is a pharmacist. But I couldn't find a review for the movie in the New York Times, so probably it will end up being another small independent film that is good but few people will find out about. Also, it is not for sale on Amazon, not yet anyway.
rgcustomer Why are there no reviews of this film? I'm terrible at reviews. But if nobody else is going to do it, then it's me.This is a good film, and I'm always delighted when someone makes a good English-language Canadian film. This one is not ashamed to be matter-of-factly set in Toronto, Ontario (or some suburb thereof), rather than pretending to be some nameless US city. The acting is realistic (partly due to the way it was shot in story order) and the story remains suspenseful throughout. There are times when the film feels Nordic to me, perhaps due to the colour scheme and the possibility of things taking a very dark turn, but also the naturalness in the acting. There were times when the story could have morphed into a preachy movie-of-the-week sort of thing, but it wisely avoided falling into that trap.On the negative side, which wasn't all that negative, there were two things that took away from the naturalness and realism that otherwise permeated the story. I think the use of text was supposed to make me feel drawn into Nicole's experience with this, or caught up in the romantic aspect of it, but it didn't work, particularly when combined with the shaky camera. I also thought that there were sometimes too many tight shots and quick cuts.Fans of this film's red room scene may also like Sleeping Beauty (2011), which is a completely different take on a similar problem. Also, I haven't seen it myself, as it is still on my to-see list, but the documentary webseries "Often Awesome" deals with a person's life and death with ALS.
