Privileged teenage friends Jenny, Nell and Stream spend their senior year on a quest to rid Stream of her virginity. However, Stream wants more than just her first sexual experience. She wants to have an orgasm -- but achieving this proves problematic, as the boys she meets are hardly sensitive enough to provide her the release she seeks. When it becomes clear that Nell and Jenny have never experienced an orgasm either, all three set out to get one.

Coming Soon Audience Reviews

Pacionsbo Absolutely Fantastic
Deanna There are moments in this movie where the great movie it could've been peek out... They're fleeting, here, but they're worth savoring, and they happen often enough to make it worth your while.
Zlatica One of the worst ways to make a cult movie is to set out to make a cult movie.
Sarita Rafferty There are moments that feel comical, some horrific, and some downright inspiring but the tonal shifts hardly matter as the end results come to a film that's perfect for this time.
tsf-1962 I'm not a big fan of teen sex comedies; indeed, I'm probably the only person in the world who's never watched "Fast Times at Ridgemount High." I never got any when I was in high school, so I'm in no mood to see other people have all the fun I missed out on. However, I saw parts of "Coming Soon" on late night cable a few years ago and have been waiting to see the entire movie. It was worth the wait. All three of the young heroines are achingly beautiful; Bonnie Root in particular shines as good-hearted Stream, the Vermont girl trying to fit in with her tragically hip Manhattan party girl friends. Tricia Vessey brings an appealing vulnerability to the role of Nel, the depressive model who blossoms when she discovers her lesbianism. Gaby Hoffmann, who made such a big impression years ago in "Sleepless in Seattle," is appropriately bitchy as the bossy know-it-all Jenny; with her bangs and dark eyelashes Ms. Hoffmann would have been great as a silent film star. The script is funny and perceptive, and the three leads are supported by a talented cast of veteran performers, especially the hilarious Mia Farrow as Stream's hippie mom. The movie scores satirical points about peer pressure and the overemphasis on getting into a "good school," which makes young people feel like failures if they can't get into an overpriced Ivy League establishment. This film has joined the ranks of "Legally Blonde" and "Heartbreakers" as one of my all-time favorite guilty pleasure chick flicks.
spin_spiral_witch I agree this movie is cheesy, but it is has cult indie movie potential. Don't expect award winning performances or gross 'american pie' humour. It really is a movie that girls can relate to.Three girls discover their sexuality together in a humorous manner. It is full of high school puns and unreal outfits. But you'll laugh, you'll relate on some level and you'll roll your eyes...a lot. I first saw this on cable t.v. and got hooked. Ryan Renyolds, Mia Farrow and the soundtrack make this movie a silly 'nothing to do on Sunday' flick. Keep an open mind. You'll be happy you did.
Wayne Smith My fiance and I watched the little trailer for this despicable movie the other night on some movie channel. We figured we'd watch it since nothing else was on and I'm glad I did."Coming Soon" is possibly one of the worst movies ever made. I usually save words like those for movies like, "Fear Dot Com," but I was truly sickened by what was written and portrayed in this movie. Because I couldn't find the writer/director's home address, I figured this is the next best forum to voice my disgust with this movie."Coming Soon" stars a cast of whining 20-somethings as high school seniors. They all come from rich families, they go to private schools, they have drivers, they're models and get into Harvard... so from the beginning we know this is a fantasy movie, right? The subject of the movie tries to focus on how teenage girls learn to orgasm. It sounds more like an episode of "Sex and the City" to me. So we're basically dealing with a topic that pertains more so to older women. But what happens when these younger girls, who the movie is aimed towards, watch this movie? The writer idolizes the main character (somehow she's smart but never studies, has a "cool" name, Stream, and has similar problems of boyfriends being jerks in high school) so girls around that age will sympathise with Stream. What happens, though, is they are introduced by other things, such as smoking all the time, drinking all the time, going to clubs while still underage, and having pre-marital sex with someone she really doesn't like. She develops a thing for the quirky (not actually quirky but the movie portrays it that way since everyone else's norm is stuck-up rich kid) MTV video star Ryan Reynolds... a favorite of mine from Nickelodeon's Canadian Drama "Fifteen." Don't we all remember those guys we knew in high school who had a crappy band that made it to MTV while still in high school? The movie goes between this fantasy world and real world too much, and seems like it was made to encourage underage everything. I'm ashamed that this movie was ever made, not because of its topic of female orgasm, but because of its morally degenerative story.
mrfrane Apparently, the subject of female orgasm is not as "funny" as some guy having sex with an apple pie -- judging by how quickly this movie disappeared (or didn't appear at all) in movie theaters. Three well-to-do high school girls are searching for satisfaction (which *guys* do all the time in Hollywood movies) and not finding it. Ohmigodwecanttalkaboutthat!! Funny and cute movie. Bonnie Root is an attractive and likeable young actress; I'd hope to see more of her in the future. One of the best things about the movie is that it deals with sex, more or less constantly, without ever resorting to obscenity or nudity or crudity. I know that the lack of nudity will be a disappointment to some, but it would have ruined this film.
