Death Note Audience Reviews

Cubussoli Very very predictable, including the post credit scene !!!
VeteranLight I don't have all the words right now but this film is a work of art.
Moustroll Good movie but grossly overrated
Guillelmina The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.
GavC543 I know this is a TV movie, but with the budget and distribution they acquired for this adaptation I expected much more. I felt the acting, without being too harsh, was almost laughable. The screenplay was also quite different to the manga/show. Camera-work/directing could have grabbed the viewers attention if it experimented more with visually stimulating ideas, also lack of creative sound.Pros: Animation was quite good. It was the main reason I came to watch it in the first place. Although, it was obvious at times it was done in post which very much takes away from viewing experience. I also liked the sets/locations chosen in the relevant scenes. Just needed more umph in every sense!!Because I love the show/manga I will be generous, although I felt it was very much average.6/10
Paul Magne Haakonsen As an avid fan of Asian cinema, I must say that somehow both the Anime series and the live action movie of "Death Note" (aka "Desu nôto") eluded me, even though I have had the three movies on my DVD shelves for about a year. Then I saw that part one had a rating of 8 on IMDb, so I finally sat down to watch it.It wasn't as good as I had hoped for or expected it to be, especially since it had the rating of 8. Perhaps it is because I never read the comic or seen the Anime. I must say that I found it to be merely mediocre. It had potential, but just never really rose to a noteworthy climax.Ryuk, the God of Death, was interesting enough, but the CGI was just a bit too poor. And actor Tatsuya Fujiwara was like an Asian version of Nicolas Cage; unable to portray more than a single facial expression. However, the actor who stole the show was Ken'ichi Matsuyama. He was really well-cast for the role of L.Story-wise then I found "Death Note" to be fairly weak and offering the audience not all that much actually."Death Note" scores a mere five out of ten stars from me. This wasn't the brightest moment in Japanese cinema.
filmfan1991 Death Note is one of the best manga/anime out there. This live action adaptation is very close and well done for the most part. The live action actors who play Light Yagami and L do a wonderful job of translating from comic/animation to live action. The actor who stole the screen the most was Kenichi Mastuyama as L who was perfect in the role. For those who haven't seen the anime or manga the plot goes as this: an aspiring law student disgusted with the way justice is carried out one day finds a notebook that can kill people if you write their name down. He uses this notebook to take down criminals and become true justice aka Kira meanwhile a famous detective codenamed L tries to track down Kira and the cat and mouse chase between L and Kira begins. The plot is great considering that at least 12 episodes of the anime are condensed into the movie so some changes had to be made and the twists and turns are suspenseful.
venkatece I want to find some thing more amazing than this ....till now i found nothing. This series is the only reason i started watching series thanks to my friend who advised me to watch it.As of now i watched it 8 times ...every time i watch it i like it even more... I think watching this series is the best thing that i did in my life. My friend told me to watch it then i thought it might be just a normal anime but i was wrong. I watched all the episodes continuously, may be i forgot to blink my eye while watching this what an amazing series it was!!!!
