Admirable film.

A lot of perfectly good film show their cards early, establish a unique premise and let the audience explore a topic at a leisurely pace, without much in terms of surprise. this film is not one of those films.

While it doesn't offer any answers, it both thrills and makes you think.

"Demetri Martin. Person." is actually a fairly motivating 42 minutes for aspiring comedians, because it shows that you really do not need too much talent to become famous these days. Demetri Martin, an Emmy nominee for writing on Conan O'Brien's show, has turned into a stand-up comedian and here we see his program from almost 10 years ago. First of all, let me say that 40 minutes is really short and I feel sorry for the people who paid money for this, especially those who saw him live during this show unless this is a best-of. But I think it's the entire thing. Then, another criticism, it's just very rarely funny. Martin tries to score with his boy-next-door approach, but there really isn't a lot under this surface. I also cannot really see much musical talent in him and the ending is pretty cringeworthy when his relatives enter the stage in weird costumes. I mean I totally did not expect lengths like these in such a short show. Still, I must say I am glad this did not run any longer. I cannot say at all that this little recording got me interested in the artist here. Not recommended and I am shocked to see he's still having a career 8 years later.
