Embrace of the Vampire Audience Reviews

Crwthod A lot more amusing than I thought it would be.
Dirtylogy It's funny, it's tense, it features two great performances from two actors and the director expertly creates a web of odd tension where you actually don't know what is happening for the majority of the run time.
Roman Sampson One of the most extraordinary films you will see this year. Take that as you want.
Erica Derrick By the time the dramatic fireworks start popping off, each one feels earned.
Predrag I place this film along side "Showgirls" as a truly indispensable guilty pleasure, this film is an absolute riot, you just can't keep a straight face. If you're looking for a plot, good acting, thrilling action sequences, characters that you can care about, a good script, or a memorable movie experience, then you're looking at the wrong movie. However, if you're looking for a soft-core porn movie starring Alyssa Milano's bare breasts, you're looking at the right movie.Alyssa Milano gets naked. You see her nipples with amazing frequency. She lets guys touch her in dream sequences. She lets a female photographer touch her, remove most of her clothing, and then kiss her. But beware, Lesbian Sex Scene seekers - Alyssa does not go further than kissing. Yes, that's right - she loses her nerve and runs out of the room. Taking the time to get dressed again, unfortunately. So, if you're a fan of Alyssa Milano's breasts, then by all means rent this movie! Overall rating: 6 out of 10.
a_baron Vampires may be the living dead, but if you can sit through this one without taking at least three or four breaks you're not living dead, you're brain dead. The theme is far from new: age old vampire seeks his reincarnated virgin. How he becomes a vampire in the first place is silly, then we jump forward a couple of hundred years or so, and we are on a college campus where leading man and bad guy Martin Kemp is pursuing the virginal Alyssa Milano. Kemp is still best known for being one quarter of new romantics Spandau Ballet. He is also not a bad actor, but even Tom Hanks, Marlon Brando, Laurence Olivier and Al Pacino melded together couldn't pull this one off. Rubbish plot and script aside, this is a film that starts off with some pretence to Gothic horror, then decides it wants to become lesbian porn, then simply porn, and finally degenerates into farce as the campus virgin smokes her first cigarette, when suddenly she is not so sweet and pure. There is nothing wrong with using dream or nightmare sequences in a film, but there are ways to indicate this. If a character who has been murdered appears in a later scene, is this person now a vampire, or did the dastardly deed take place only in the damsel's head? That is assuming she was even in that scene. Confused? Who wouldn't be!This has been called a B Movie; in truth there are not enough letters in even the Tamil alphabet to rate this garbage, and it is not so much the embrace of the vampire as his kiss of death.
zetes This film was a gift from God to those of us who grew up crushing on Alyssa Milano in Who's the Boss. This is, obviously, a pretty awful flick. I'd always assumed it was made directly for Cinemax. But it is amusingly awful and, Hell, say what you want about the rest of it, but it's actually super hot. Milano is drop-dead gorgeous and there are plenty of other beautiful naked women all over the place. The vampire who stalks her (Martin Kemp) is hilariously awful. His terribleness keeps the movie light and funny, which it doesn't want to be but it'd probably be far less tolerable otherwise. I wish I had recorded a few more of his lines, but right from the beginning we get juicy nuggets like "I'll destroy anything that gets in my way, even my heart, if need be!" Everything he says is overwritten and over acted, often behind a really dumb looking leather vest. So, yes, a bad movie, but I quite like it.
callanvass This is boring Vampire rubbish, that really has no entertainment value what so ever, with plenty of soft core stuff and a lame story. All the characters are not very interesting, and while it has one hot lesbian scene between Alyssa Milano and Charlotte Lewis but that's not enough to save it as it's basically the only entertaining scene in the film, plus while Martin Kemp had potential to be menacing as the Vampire he hammed it up, and became boring very shortly. There isn't very much blood or gore either, and the only reason I found this to be at least somewhat bearable was because of Milano's presence, plus the dialog was quite shoddy. Milano seemed somewhat uncomfortable in scenes, and I can't believe Kemp(Vampire) gave up that easy at the end, even though he was forced too, however Milano did manage to switch from her goody two shoes role to bad girl role quite well actually. It's pretty poorly made and written, and Jordan Ladd plays an effective annoying bitch, plus while Harold Pruett was likable as Chris (Charlotte's boyfriend) he was only OK due to the material. This is boring vampire rubbish, that really has no entertainment value what so ever, with plenty of soft core stuff and a lame story, and I say you should pass on this one it's not worth seeing. The Direction is quite mediocre. Anne Goursaud does a mediocre job here while the camera work is good, as is the setting it was just too bland for my liking, and the pace was also uneven. The Acting isn't much better. Alyssa Milano is really good here she was the reason the film was semi-bearable, she had great presence is incredibly gorgeous and sexy, did a great character switch from goody two shoes to bad girl, and while she did look uncomfortable in a few scenes, kudos for her managing to get through them she did great (Milano rules!!). Martin Kemp is OK as the Vampire but was too hammy and OTT for my liking, his character had a lot of potential but he just couldn't fulfill it, he also reminded me of an incredibly poor man's Nicolas Cage. Harold Pruett is actually rather decent as the boyfriend Chris, he was likable, and managed to come out of this crap looking quite decent, good job on that, his chemistry with Milano wasn't all that bad either. Jordan Ladd plays the annoying bitch very effectively I couldn't stand her. Charlotte Lewis is incredibly sexy and gorgeous and that's basically what her role was supposed to be she did an extremely good job on that!. Rachel True is OK as the best friend. Jennifer Tilly is alright in her couple scenes. Rest of the cast are so, so. Overall I would pass on this one, as it's not worth seeing. *1/2 out of 5
