octopusquid Tommy Bertelsen can't direct to save his own life. Shakespeare is currently rolling in his grave knowing such an inept douchebag like Tommy ever even attempted to remake "Romeo and Juliet." Troian Bellisario wrote and starred in this "artistic" film, but man, are both her talents as a writer and actress completely wasted on this dull, uneventful waste of twenty-two minutes that could be better spent giving a loved one a hug or watching a much better short film made by someone who actually cares about their audience and craft.Here's the plot: Romeo and Juliet stay in a trailer in the middle of the desert and tensions rise because they are in the middle of the desert living in a trailer. Genius. A+ retelling. The actors try their best but it's difficult being invested when the cinematography is done by a drunk person and the direction is done by a man leeching off the success of his lead actress. Bertelsen clearly doesn't know how to form his own original vision, so he bites off Terrence Malick, Gus Van Sant, and plenty of other actually talented directors who are original and prolific. You don't become prolific by pretending to be someone else, Tommy. I'll give you this- you tried. But darn, you failed horrendously.

Horst in Translation (filmreviews@web.de) Just like the other fairly famous Troian Bellisario short film "Immediately Afterlife", this movie here is about two people bonding under the most horrible circumstances. Bellisario also wrote the script for this one and if you watch "pretty Little Liars", you will not only know her, but also know her co-star Shane Coffey, who appeared in a few episodes. The director, Tommy Bertelsen, however has nothing to do with the series or with many other films in general. He mostly works as a television actor and this one here is his first and only effort behind the camera so far. A couple is reunited after they've been separated, but the price is high and the two have to live in isolation. Apparently, that's fine for the guy as long as he has his girl with him, but Bellisario's character becomes more and more dissatisfied with the situation. This film is very much style over substance. We do not find out too much about what happened before or about the two characters and instead we hear pretentious movies and see beautiful landscape from start to finish. Like a poor man's Malick film a bit. These 24 minutes aren't really worth the watch. Not recommended.

Nicole Becker The film starts with Juliet being dropped off in the middle of the desert where Romeo is staying in a small, beaten up trailer. In the story of Romeo and Juliet, they both die. The spin is that they live. They are exiled to live with no electricity, water, food, etc...in the middle of the desert together. I think it was interesting because, for me, it showed that love sometimes isn't enough. The film begins with them being deeply in love, but as the film progresses, Juliet begins to question her decision to be with Romeo. The idea behind the film is, "What if the greatest tragedy of Romeo and Juliet wasn't that they died, but that they lived?" Our whole lives we search for our soul mates, but maybe we got it all wrong? I think it was an interesting and creative spin on the story. Well made, very intimate, raw emotions, and great acting.

nanccakes Even after knowing what Romeo & Juliet was about, and even after reading the summary of this short film, it was just confusing! It was confusing because they start in with her in this car and then later they are talking about how they haven't been found. Then who was in the car? Why can't they find them again? That didn't make sense. Apparently they have been out there for weeks but it just seems like a couple days. I don't know maybe you just have to really look at it from a different angle than just watching it. I had honestly already thought it looked a little confusing, and I was right in thinking that. You may like it, but I thought it was confusing and not very good.
