Father of Invention Audience Reviews

Moustroll Good movie but grossly overrated
BeSummers Funny, strange, confrontational and subversive, this is one of the most interesting experiences you'll have at the cinema this year.
Tymon Sutton The acting is good, and the firecracker script has some excellent ideas.
Zlatica One of the worst ways to make a cult movie is to set out to make a cult movie.
ismsons-910-411623 It is a movie that you can watch with your family. characters are well thought out. and you enjoy watching it. Kevin Spacey is as usual great and can make you smile several times. Main zest of the story is more than focused on invention. But is a love affair. it was a good time spent. Hollywood should come out with more movies with some character in it . Also i think these movies deserve more popularity then less material movies get now a days. For those who are criticizing this movie they must understand that the story has to fit in 2 hours so you cannot be entirely practical. it is a must watch for all. more of these kind of movies will make viewers more caring about their family .
dunsuls-1 OK I admit I always be loving me some Kevin Spacey and "Black Comedies".While this film pales as good comedy, its still good enough Spacey for me and thus the ONLY reason to see it.Infomercials are boring and silly and so are the people who make them.In some regards this film is a update of "The Jerk"in the sense that a guy has it all and loses it because of a bad product then gets it all back.Instead of being born a "poor black child" Spacey's Robert Axle is the common emotionally poor father. The rest of the cast are unimportant as their characters really mean nothing including Axle's daughter, played well enough by Camilla Belle. No,its the sharp ever scheming mind of Axle that matters and Spacey can do this sort of part very well, see "Casino Jack "as a example.Released in 2010 and running but 93 minutes, its for Spacey fans only as no one could really care about someone like Axle for real,or his pathetic life.
scoup This film starts off well but the deteriorates about halfway through and falls flat into a clichéd ending.Kevin Spacey was good and I appreciated his humorous performance and physical comedy. Camilla Belle was OK, but bordering on mannequin performance (I have liked her in other movies though). She also needs to gain a little weight. At one point I was distracted by some weirdness in her face - please tell me she did not get botox at her age. Speaking of botox, the other roommate needs to stop with her injections because she looks freakish; she seems pretty otherwise but not a great actress. Heather Graham was OK but her character was one dimensional and not engaging.Johnny Knoxville had some good moments but in a couple shots he looks old and tired. One of the funniest moments if not the funniest moment was Michael Rosenbaum as the ex-boyfriend - WHY was there not more of him??? He can do comedy.Virginia Madsen as the ex-wife was annoying and vapid leaving no reason the viewer would want to care about her in the least. You just want to punch her in the face for squandering $200 million dollars (?) in ten years and having NO money for her daughter at all??? Waste product. It would have been more realistic if the daughter did not connect with her instead of her father. Craig Robinson held his own.The plot is initially interesting and loaded with potential but poor scripting and character inconsistencies bog this storyline.Ending - no climax and a letdown...
William_Henry_Pratt Do cardiologists operate without having spent a second in Medical School? Do Engineers build bridges without first knowing something about mathematics and physics? Then how the hell did this guy get away with writing and directing this dreck? Because in Hollywood these days it doesn't matter whether you know your craft just be a good friend to someone who can pull a movie together. Zanuck, Mayer, Laemmle, the brothers Warner are all rotating in their respective graves at a very high velocity.First for a comedy the camera is way too close and many times the geography is all out of whack. It has that poorly lit video sheen. Appears to have been shot at 29.97.The actors give it their best but the script is such a ludicrous and absurd mess they can not be saved. Plus the dialogue feels lifted right out of the world's worst film school short. There is no drama or comedy. Everything becomes one unfocused blob. It appears they may have shot the first draft of the script.Direction was non existent(maybe spent way too much time at the craft service table) and I've seen monkeys edit better motion pictures, but considering the footage may not be the editor's fault. The best thing about this was the subtitles and goofed on this film. At times realizing the picture was so awful they just placed gibberish in place of the dialogue.A total waste of a germ of what may have been a good idea and a very, very talented cast. It's so sad...
