Hansel & Gretel Audience Reviews

Ehirerapp Waste of time
UnowPriceless hyped garbage
SpunkySelfTwitter It’s an especially fun movie from a director and cast who are clearly having a good time allowing themselves to let loose.
Kien Navarro Exactly the movie you think it is, but not the movie you want it to be.
fermin-2 It's unfortunate that you're not allowed to give 10 NEGATIVE points, and even that would mean I'd be doing this movie a service. The actors were bad, the script is beyond awful and the whole idea of bringing out a movie with the same title in the same year as the one you're ripping off is just plain being assholes. Please hunt down all copies of this movie and burn them. Here I thought I was done reviewing. But nooo, Amazon expects me to vent for at least ten lines. No problem, I could probably go on for 10 pages. The "witch" for example was particularly bad, just plain retarded for example the scene where she "catches" Gretel. A punch to her face would have put paid to that. Then there's the kids' father - getting ready to be ripped of by his soon to be new bride. Hellooooo.... could see that coming from a mile ahead. Not that I watched the movie long enough to see if they actually had that in the script, too, but it's just very pathetic. And the no-good 20-something Hänsel, a slacker if I've ever seen one, suddenly growing a pair? Really??
rchoyle I have written a handful of reviews over the years and only a out movies that were lesser known and if I was pleasantly surprised by how good they were. This was not one of those movies unfortunately! I don't like to take sophist at movie makers as whether a movie is good or bad, a lot of effort is required to make a movie and I have the attitude that if I don't have something positive to say, then don't say anything at all, but I had to take exception with this one. Their were definitely some real corny scenes and dialogue in it that make you wonder how can anyone with half a mind make a movie like that, but it was created nonetheless. One scene in particular comes to mind, which is what prompted me to write this review, and that was the scene when Hansel and Gretel were helping the blond girl escape from one of the brothers and Gretel cut his throat. Hansel then responded " Hey, it was either him or us. " And he said that because she seemed distraught over the fact that she had to take a life and felt bad for doing so! That line really takes the cake for me as you have maniacs trying to kill and eat you, you kill one to help you escape and them you feel guilty and awful about it?? In any event, this movie had much more potential than was shown, unfortunately it was not reached. But I still watched it in it's entirety and if not anything else, it was one of those movies that was good because it was so bad, possibly take on a cult status, but I don't think that would be the case here. I have to add one more comment about Hansel when he starts eating himself, their were several scenes in which pain that should have existed, was not prevalent in this movie, especially as he devours his own body, no pain whatsoever as he acts like he's munching on a drumstick of chicken. I men come on, they could've at least made him feel the pain of eating his own arm, just saying! But what do I know about making motives, I just watch them!
jonmacdonald81 Half way through this movie some of the characters and the overall storyline were enjoyable enough to overlook the lack of special effects, obvious B production value, and occasional horrid line and had me really wanting to like this movie. Then it all went to hell. It seems at a certain point the writer smoked PCP and lost all direction and , avoiding spoilers, the ending couldn't of been any more of a let down then that.. That being said Dee Wallace, Stephanie Greco, Brent Lydic all displayed some real talent. Dee played the crazed villain to the letter, and I hope to see more from the up and comers Stephanie and Brent in the near future (Hopefully sporting much better dialogue).
trapp_p Read the other reviews, they summarise all that is bad about this movie. Basically a waste of time and budget, B-grade horror suitable only for a late-night horror channel on TV. Not quite as bad as 'The Thing for the Black Lagoon' (but about 40 years newer) the SFX are woeful and the plot is predictable, including the punchline..... (if that is what it is supposed to be). It is what I think is called a 'cliff-hanger' - allowing you to continue the plot line later - if there is interest. In the case of this movie a sequel would be an act of insanity. Apparently I need 10 lines to submit this review so here is the tenth one.
