Hotel for Dogs Audience Reviews

Greenes Please don't spend money on this.
Crwthod A lot more amusing than I thought it would be.
Raymond Sierra The film may be flawed, but its message is not.
studioAT 'Hotel for Dogs' isn't a masterpiece of cinema. It's not expected to be. What it is though is a perfectly enjoyable hour and a half film that has a good heart and good performances from all involved. It's got some decent laughs in it too, thanks to some good adult talent like Yvette Nicole Brown and Lisa Kudrow, who seems to be specialising in stealing films from the side-lines these days.Of the two young leads it's probably Emma Roberts who grabs the most attention, displaying the talent that has seen her go onto bigger and better things. There is a lot of dross produced in terms of kids movies, poor animations or live actions with no charm. This however bucks the trend, and hopefully will be enjoyed for generations to come.
rdoyle29 I have trouble being too hard on this film. What the concept promises is a hotel with a bunch of cute pups running around it, and it really delivers on that promise. You don't just get a hotel full of dogs, you also get a whole bunch of fancy contraptions that feed and entertain the dogs and take care of all of their needs. What surrounds this central idea is not too challenging ... orphans, evil step parents, a non-threatening teenage love interest for the girl orphan, friends who just come out of nowhere and volunteer to help, evil dog catchers and Don Cheadle. I won't for one second suggest that this is a conventionally good movie, but I kind of enjoyed it in a "don't think very hard about any of it" kind of way.
mathknapp I am shocked to come to IMDb and see this movie with a rating under 5/10. Certainly the film is not art, but it a nice family film, a fun film, a good time film. Kids (and adults) will enjoy Bruce's contraptions, and the film solidly encourages kids to do the right thing and stand up for what they believe in. Best of all, they do not clutter the movie with useless subplots. Any romance between the characters is a minor strand, there are no false arguments to heighten tension. The plot stays focused and the kids (and even adults) will have a good time.I *HATE* dogs, and I liked this movie. That has to say something.
Chrysanthepop 'Hotel For Dogs' is strictly for kids. As an adult, I did not find it much to enjoy. The only reason why I thought it might be worth a watch was because the cast included Don Cheadle and Lisa Kudrow. Sadly, both were horribly wasted. But, Kudrow does look hilarious in that bad rockstar gettup.Even, as a children's film, 'Hotel For Dogs' isn't anywhere close to being memorable. Kids will easily forget this one once they have moved to another movie. The direction is messy. The acting is mostly over-the-top. The story does not have much in terms of structure. Even the poor dogs lack character development. I do hope there won't be a sequel.
