Ilsa: She Wolf of the SS Audience Reviews

SunnyHello Nice effects though.
Curapedi I cannot think of one single thing that I would change about this film. The acting is incomparable, the directing deft, and the writing poignantly brilliant.
Brenda The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one
Billy Ollie Through painfully honest and emotional moments, the movie becomes irresistibly relatable
sol- Placed in charge of a Nazi concentration camp, a female doctor subjects her prisoners to grueling medical experiments in this controversial thriller starring Dyanne Thorne. The film has gained a mixed reputation due its disputed claims of being factual, copious nudity throughout and graphic medical experiments (especially maggots in open wounds). This is, however, a more worthwhile film than its low IMDb rating would suggest. Ilsa may have never really existed, but she is an intriguing composite of Dr. Mengele and Ilse Koch - a Nazi who collected human skin. Her character is given a surprising amount of depth here too; driven crazy as a result of unlimited power, and unable to achieve sexual satisfaction after subjecting herself to so many cut up naked bodies, Thorne's Ilsa always seems totally human, cruel as her actions unquestionably may be. Thorne also plays her part with such spirit and relish that it is impossible to look away whenever she is on screen; one almost gets a sense that she believes it when she tells her prisoners "we are doctors... we are here to help you", such is the level of her delusions of grandeur. Everything kind of takes a back seat to Thorne, and coupled with select scenes that come off as outrageous for the sake of it, this is not a film for all tastes, but it is a lot more interesting than one might expect from reputation alone.
Leofwine_draca Dyanne Thorne stars in her most infamous role, the titular character, in this downright sleazy and unpleasant exploitation movie, probably the most famous of its kind. It goes without saying that this is adults-only stuff, a catalogue of sickening scenes which are only for the strong of stomach. In my opinion this is far worse than any of the Italian cannibal flicks I've seen, as all of the atrocities are played out with the utmost realism which gives them a real sickening impact.Amongst the worst things on view are a man being castrated (thankfully the act is hidden), a woman being burnt alive in a tub of boiling water, and another suffering electro-shock therapy. Other characters have their toes cut off and are whipped until they die. All good healthy entertainment of course. Probably the most disturbing thing about the film is the quality of the special effects; for such a low-budget exploitation piece you would expect them to be rubbish but they're rather effective and realistic-looking - fortunately or not, as the case may be. Producer David Friedman (so called "sultan of sleaze") - here producing under an obviously fake name - ensued that he got the best effects man for the job and it shows. As much a sex film as it is a horror, ILSA, SHE WOLF OF THE SS also contains a never ending parade of naked women, mostly being tortured or humiliated. Not five minutes goes by without some characters either having sex or walking around nude, which is probably why the film has such an enduring success to this day: for its blatant disregard for politically correct values, instead it is happy to wallow in sex and violence just for the exploitation value.Dyanne Thorne certainly lends an icy beauty to the film and is the best thing in it; the surrounding cast are mainly amateurs so some fun is to be had with the acting. The one thing I did like about this film was the action-packed finale which is done well on a low budget, with shoot-outs and explosions to enjoy. There's also an immensely cheesy throat-slashing to top things off. Sadly, this action fare can make no amends for the disturbing scenes beforehand, which is why I am unable to recommend this movie to anybody - apart from maybe the die-hard gore fans looking for something a little stronger than the usual fare.
Uriah43 As an SS officer during World War II, "Ilsa" (Dyanne Thorne) serves as both a doctor and as the kommandant of a special prison camp in Nazi Germany. In particular the prison camp is allocated a certain number of young women for which Ilsa conducts inhuman medical experiments upon. Along with this the female prisoners are routinely beaten, tortured and raped. There are also a few male prisoners there who are used for manual labor with one specific man named "Wolfe" (Gregory Knoph) who has managed to arouse Ilsa to heights of sexuality she has never known before. But there are dangers associated with this action which are probably best left unmentioned in order to avoid spoiling the movie for those who haven't seen it. I will say however that this film is not for a general audience as it is quite brutal and sadistic. Even so Dyanne Thorne put on a very good performance and she essentially carries this movie all by herself. Again, I should warn viewers that this film is not for the squeamish but it pretty much kept my attention and I rate it as slightly above average.
dylo-2 Dyanne Thorne stars as Ilsa , an evil Nazi warden hell bent on seeking pleasure that no man can fulfill and testing the limits of pain and torture of her female prisoners.Ilsa is a trilogy of movies , with a fourth movie tacked on and renamed Ilsa.In the era of exploitation movies in the 70's , the Ilsa series was extremely controversial , yet extremely profitable.Ilsa is the best of the exploitation/women in prison genre and despite the controversy , Dyanne Thorne gives a tremendous performance and whenever you see her , you can't help but not see anything else in the picture...she commands prescence.Unfortunately Dyanne's talent has been somewhat wasted over the years, being one of the few actors that let herself be credited by her real name...Hollywood and friends turned their back on her.Dyanne is a minister and owns a wedding business and whilst , in what rare material available out there , she never disrespects the Ilsa films nor the opportunity they presented at the time...it would be hard not to be disappointed at the future that could have been.Trivia: *Producer David Friedman refused to be credited after seeing the final product and has disowned the film entirely.*Directed by Don Edmonds, he is currently looking to finance another Ilsa film entitled Ilana...*Ilsa: She wolf of the SS spawned 2 official sequels "Ilsa: Harem Keeper of the oil sheikhs & Ilsa: Tigress of Siberia.*The Ilsa series is still banned here in Australia *Notorious horror/exploitation director Jess Franco cast Dyanne Thorne as a sadistic prison warden of a south American clinic for women with sexual disorders..the film was originally title "Greta, the mad butcher" ...Jess later changed it to "Ilsa: The Wicked Warden to cash in on the Ilsa franchise.*Ilsa: She wolf of the SS takes inspiration from the real life atrocities inflicted by infamous nazi Ilsa Koch.If you are a fan of Women in Prison films, Naziploitation , Exploitation or just want to see a wicked camp fest...don't forget to check out Ilsa, you won't be disappointed.
