Phonearl Good start, but then it gets ruined
Merolliv I really wanted to like this movie. I feel terribly cynical trashing it, and that's why I'm giving it a middling 5. Actually, I'm giving it a 5 because there were some superb performances.
AnhartLinkin This story has more twists and turns than a second-rate soap opera.
johnny-w WOW, and I thought the original cartoon was good! Folks, if you haven't checked this movie out, it's about time you do. In this laugh-out-loud follow-up to the 1999 movie starring Matthew Broderick (Deck the Halls, Family Business), you get to witness the true example of an outstanding sequel.French Stewart (The New WKRP in Cincinnati, Home Alone 4) stars as Inspector Gadget, and I must say that he pulled off the role much better than Broderick. His performance was downright wacky and entertaining - he captured the essence of the true Inspector Gadget character so well. It's sad that you don't see much of French Stewart in the movies these days. His on-screen presence could surely liven up some of the more lackluster movies Hollywood has been churning out lately, such as Avatar. Still, I'll take what I can get, and I'm just crossing my fingers that Inspector Gadget 3 comes to fruition and he gets the starring role once more! If you're as serious about film as I am, do yourself a favor and rent Inspector Gadget 2 - you will not be disappointed. Go-go-gadget-VIDEO STORE!
ActorAlex When I saw this movie I was very pleased. I thought it was excellent. But then it got better. I auditioned for a movie entitled "The Haunting Hours", which isn't on IMDb yet. I made the part and met the director. The directors name, you ask? Alex Zamm. I recently discovered this and now I want to see this movie again. See "Inspector Gadget 2" and then see "R.L. Stine Presents: The Haunting Hours", and keep a good eye out for a 6-year-old main character. 'Cause that dude's me. Now about the movie. The cast is amazing, the crew did a fantabulous job, and the director is AWESOME!!!!!!! See this movie, and be very, very, VERY pleased!!!!
vchimpanzee At the start of the movie, Inspector Gadget pulls a little old lady over for driving 25.3 in a 25 zone. Of course, this moron can't accomplish this one little thing without a production worthy of Shirley Muldowney. I mention that name because he advises the lady that drag racing on public highways is not allowed.Of course, this is only one of the many hilarious incidents in a fun live-action cartoon with lots of great gadgets, made funnier by wild and crazy animation.Gadget himself is not the only moron here. With all his abilities, gadget master Baxter has been responsible for numerous glitches in the equipment that simply add to the zaniness.Dr. Claw, of course, is out of jail. Riverton, declared America's safest city because of the Gadget program, has been selected as the new site for a Federal Reserve branch that will hold $4 trillion in gold. Working with his minions from the former Bowl-O-Rama plant, Claw plots to steal this gold and take over the world. To do it, he will need laser technology, which will utilize a giant bowling pin, and what is apparently the world's largest ruby.Gadget must stop this fiend! But he will have help--or maybe be replaced totally--from the latest model, G2, a pretty girl with no personality. Gadget falls for G2 despite the threat, and the feeling seems to be mutual. What will happen? With all the problems in the Gadget program, can the villains be stopped? A crucial member of the team will be Gadget's adorable yet bright niece Penny.I can't remember the first film clearly enough to say which one I liked more. French Stewart plays bumbling idiots so well, although I will admit he was better on "Third Rock from the Sun". Elaine Hendrix made the most of a role where her character shouldn't show emotion, but even this robotic character couldn't avoid doing just that. Tony Martin is great as Claw (at least for a cartoon), and the actors playing his minions also were funny. And Caitlin Wachs was so darn cute! (I know, I've said that about her before)The visual effects provide a lot of the humor, though there's plenty of funny dialogue too. I would say that while they were not on the scale of a big-budget film, they were quite fascinating and enjoyable. There's not really anything here to concern parents. If you can deal with cartoon violence in the tradition of Bugs Bunny and Tom and Jerry, this is a fine kids' movie. In fact, the gags seem designed primarily for kids. But adults can enjoy them too. One possible caution--Penny is shown to be in potential danger, but you know they wouldn't let a child die in a film like this. Right? It's a fun and nearly harmless film for kids.
khecht2 I couldn't wait til this movie would finally be released and when I got it for my birthday I couldn't wait to go home and watch it, but after seeing i felt like i wasted my aunt's money. Elaine Hendrix is probably the best actor in this entire movie. She does an awesome job as G2. Caitlyn Wachs does an okay job filling in as the role of Penny. However French Stewart does an awful job as Inspector Gadget. There are parts of the movie that are funny and good. Brain is one of the cutest beagles you will ever see and Inspector Gadget's car is so funny. And the bar scene made me laugh a little. However this isn't the movie I would recommend but what the heck give it a chance, you may like it. All I know is that i didn't.
