Joy Ride 2: Dead Ahead Audience Reviews

Wordiezett So much average
Comwayon A Disappointing Continuation
Tobias Burrows It's easily one of the freshest, sharpest and most enjoyable films of this year.
Zandra The movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.
adonis98-743-186503 After their car breaks down in the desert, four friends try to find their way back to civilization while trying to escape Rusty Nail's bloody wrath. Joy Ride 2: Dead Ahead is nowhere near as good as the first and goes just for the cheap kills and the over the top ones alongside way too much dumb acting, horrible characters and a storyline that doesn't make any sense either. I'd suggest to stick to the first one cause although it was no masterpiece it was at least a fun and quite good horror flick unlike this one and the next one that unfortunately followed. (0/10)
Paul Magne Haakonsen I do enjoy a good horror movie, and the psychological horror movies especially so, and "Joy Ride 2: Dead Ahead" did indeed have the potential to be a great movie. And given my interest in the horror genre, of course I sat down to watch it.The story, however, turned out to be just another generic run-of-the-mill psychological chase and terrorizing horror movie. It is about a group of people whose car breaks down and they find an old, rundown house in the middle of nowhere. They find a car in the garage and decide to take it, as no one is at home, with the intent to return later on with the car and pay for damages to the property. It turns out that the owner of the house and car is a cruel truck driver and he takes up the chase of the young people, hellbent on causing them harm and terrorizing them.Sure, the storyline was not something new or innovative, and it was in fact something that had been seen in other movies. But still, it did have potential. However, director Louis Morneau just didn't manage to make "Joyride 2: Dead Ahead" stand out in the genre. The movie certainly was entertaining enough, but it just didn't have that special touch to it.The acting in the movie was adequate, and people did actually perform well enough with their given roles and characters. However, the sadistic truck driver character was just a bit too generic and over-used in other movies similar to this. There weren't anything particular scary about the movie or the things that happened throughout the course of the movie. But still, I will say, that many of the scenes were nicely set up and executed, they just weren't particularly frightening. All in all, "Joyride 2: Dead Ahead" is an entertaining enough horror for what it turned out to be. You just shouldn't expect anything extraordinary here, and it is essentially something that has been seen in other similar movies.
thesar-2 Joy Ride 1 really wasn't that bad of a movie. It's nice to be able to see scenes in horror movies, i.e. in full daylight (also see The Devil's Rejects.) And Joy Ride 2: Dead Ahead really wasn't that bad either. That being said, I was glad it was direct to DVD. The way it started off (Red flags shot straight up: here we go again! Back to Texas (yes, this was Utah, I know) and back to the chainsaw family seemed to be the setup) and the way the Internet punk transformed in the final act, were the extremely bad parts. If you can make it past the opening, and bear through the closing, it wasn't a terrible psycho preying on lost 20-something lost kids. The acting was okay (aside from the changed Emo boy), dialogue wasn't too awful (miss the Ted "Jame 'Buffalo Bill' Gumb" voice over, but this one was close enough) and suspense was good enough to give it one watch. After a day of watching Saw V followed by Joy Ride 2 – I would say they're both mediocre horror sequels that are worth watching, if just at home.
Red_Identity Joy Ride 2 Dead Ahead is not a bad horror film. Sure, it is predictable, and has some bad writing at times and acting, but not as often to make it a bad film. It has some really wild moments that make it all worthwhile, like the gambling death scene between the two male characters. Nicki Aycox is a strong leading lady, the others are mediocre. It is actually better than Jeepers Creepers 2, Aycox's other horror film and this should definitely entertain those wanting a night out, and for those who have nothing else to do, but be warned, it is not very scary. But overall, not a bad horror film and pretty entertaining
