SnoReptilePlenty Memorable, crazy movie
Listonixio Fresh and Exciting
Dotbankey A lot of fun.
Glucedee It's hard to see any effort in the film. There's no comedy to speak of, no real drama and, worst of all.
cschultzy56 i personally loved this movie. i was introduced to this movie by my fiancé's parents who said it was one of the funniest movies they've ever seen and I'm inclined to agree with them. showed it to my parents who are late 50's early 60's and they both loved it. took it with me when i was stationed at camp Pendleton. showed it to a group of people some from rural areas, and some from cities outside of Texas. and the main thing i noticed is you have to understand this kind of humor to like this movie. the guys from rural areas and Texas all laughed cuz they either understood the joke or knew someone like the character's in the movie. and the other people were mad at me for making them sit through my favorite movie. in all honesty if you don't have a little back country blood in you you're probably not gonna like this movie. if you do i'll bet you'll love it.
pam1ji Considering Joshua Jackson has a distinct Canadian accent he did a wonderful job sound like a "good 'ol boy" from Texas. Each character in this film plays a unique role in creating this surprisingly funny account of a young man from Texas. I especially liked the part where child Earl discovers he is not in fact Jesus Christ reincarnated when his daddy is killed while preaching to the heathens in the bars. DJ Qualls also stands out as borderline retarded Junior. The scene where Junior hands tinker the bag of panties and maxi pads when Tionker had asked for pantyhose to rob a pizza delivery person. Juniors explanation and solution were extremely comical. The only thing that makes this film not completely perfect was the shoot out in the warehouse. It just was not convincing that everyone gets shot except for the main characters. But Earl finally meeting his "daddy's killer" was pretty cool. This is a must see movie.
don-payette Some friends brought this over on Mother's Day with all the kids around. They said it was real funny. We didn't get through the first 15 minutes, it was so filthy. The guy and girl, unmarried, living together, almost continually making out. That was enough for me, but it got worse. It went right on to the obligatory gay. Enough.Well, this is supposed to have 10 lines of information, or they won't accept it, but there really weren't 10 lines worth of comments to say about this movie, so I'll talk a bit. It sure would be nice if there were more family friendly movies around these days. This movie might have even been funny, but I couldn't watch it without my hand in front of my face. It would be great if IMDb put the movie rating on the movie entry. There, that ought to be long enough.
rellerd I thought Lone Star State of Mind was hilarious - and coming from a Texan, that's a mighty fine compliment. See y'all, most movies of this caliber make Texans look like a bunch of backwater hillbillies. (No offense to backwater hillbillies). But Lone Star State of Mind takes you on a ride through every stereotype and urban legend that makes Texas such a unique place. Everyone in Bennett Texas has a story and they all evolve around levelheaded good-guy Earl who is hell-bent on living up to his promise to his sassy star-struck fiancé, Baby. He told her he would keep her cousin Junior out of trouble. A tall, tall order. Cause Junior ain't got the sense to avoid the dumbest, just released, ex-con, soon-to-be criminal in the world, Tinker. And using maxi-pad mask they rob a pizza dude which inadvertently gets them mixed up in Texas-style drug lord's business. And Earl keeps getting shot, which make Baby real angry so she runs over Tinker. It's hilarious! And it makes fun of us Texans just like the rest of them. But it does it without being insulting – so much. Sad to say, I've known someone like each person in the movie. Like our ad says, 'Texas, it's a whole other country.'
