My Little Pony: Equestria Girls Audience Reviews

More Review
AniInterview Sorry, this movie sucks
Console best movie i've ever seen.
Animenter There are women in the film, but none has anything you could call a personality.
Kien Navarro Exactly the movie you think it is, but not the movie you want it to be.
rtwomey-10039 First of all, please take this review lightly since I am the very definition of 'wrong demographic' for this...movie. Still, when I see all the bad reviews movies like Star Wars: The Last Jedi or Assassin's Creed has, I makes me think back to all the good reviews from garbage like this and its sequels. Anyhoo, like its basis, the movie is filled with plot-holes and cliches. I still don't like our hero-and I use that term very loosely-Twilight Sparkle, anymore as a human than as a horse-sorry, pony. As for the cliches and plot-holes: Cliches- Awkward new girl goes to school and falls in love with a pointy haired jock. Awkward new girl gets annoyed by said jock's evil ex girlfriend who just so happens to be Sauron. Awkward new girl meets friends who like her and are awkward too. Awkward new girl has to beat an evil person in a beauty pageant. Plot-holes- The villain, Sunset Shimmer, reveals that she plans to take over Equestria by using a crown to control a teenage zombie army. If that was her plan the whole time, why didn't she just do it when she stole the crown in the first place? None of that 'Fall Formal' crap even needed to happen. When Sunset showed the pictures of Twilight to Luna, how did Luna not realize they were forged? The way she did it, a blind man could've figured it out. I would say that the ending rips off that of Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, but this came out first, so I really can't complain. Just like on the show, none of the mane 6 have any singing talent at all! Their voices-and the cheesy friendship is the most powerful magic of all crap-just grate on the viewers! The only thing I will say about this movie is that I like the Sunset Shimmer character. What is the crown and how does it work? I seems like a Piece of Eden from 'Assassin's Creed", but twilight can't do the stuff Sunset can do with it. Does it work in different ways for everyone? But then it would have to be sentient-*URGGH!* Brain Cramp(falls off chair) (Time Passes) Okay, sorry, 'bout that, I got a brain cramp trying to figure out that last part. If you have any theories about that, feel free to email me at r.twomey@aol.com, and i'll get back to you when I can.
samturver1200 I had to watch this movie whilst babysitting my little cousin and i have to say that without a doubt this is one of, if not the WORST film i have ever seen. The entire premise of the movie is like reading one of those creepy generic fan fictions where stock A animal goes to the human world. STORY From what i gathered, Mary sue stereotype "Twilight Sparkle" is sent to the human world to retrieve a crown or something and has to cope with an American high school. Along the way she makes friends and at the end of the film she fights a devil or something. I kind of blanked out half way through the movie as i got bored MAIN CRITICISM One main criticism i had with the film was the way the characters were drawn. If you look at the characters in the movies they are all drawn really really weirdly. It was like the entire movie was drawn by a horny member of the fan base and they wanted to see what they could get away with. It might just be me with that problem so i wont let that one be the deal breaker for me. However the rest of the film made me feel bored. Since i am a 16 going on 17 years old , i knew going in i wasn't going to like it, but i didn't know it was going to be this bad... SPOILERS At one point in the movie, "Twilight" (that is the only name i know apart from rainbow dash) has to be voted prom queen or something so she can get the crown (why she didn't just steal it from the school office or beat the living daylights out of the antagonist whilst she was in human form and take the crown like any normal person would do, i don't know) so in order to win over the mind of her classmates, her and her friends sing a song in the canteen (or cafeteria) essentially saying "vote for twilight". That single scene killed any enjoyment i had for the film. If that happened at my school, all the kids would shout "SHUT THE **** UP" and at the end of school day all the girls would go round the back of the school and batter them. One other problem i had with the film was the ending. Actually i have to say a positive as i was rather impressed at the style in which they drew the big devil, i thought it was cool. But it does not depart from the fact the climax of the film was utterly dull and boring. MORE SPOILERS So when Twilight gets crowned prom queen, the little Spyro ripoff gets nicked by two teens, they take him outside and the flaming haired girl threatens to destroy the portal to the pony world if she doesn't get the crown. Twilight (from now on i just gonna say Tara ) refuses and there is a big sort of skirmish. Finally fire head gets hold of the crown and turns into a devil. However with the magical power of friendship, Tara and her friends grow cat ears and hair extensions (some of them have wings) and defeats the devil in a span of seven and a half minutes, with no fight or battle, just a magical rainbow blast and that's it (one nitpick i had with scene is that if a great big rainbow blast thing occurring in a suburban area, you'd think the authorities would get involved).By the end of the film Tara goes home, fiery haired girl learns her lesson and they live happily ever after. CONCLUSION This really is a film for small children, and i honestly do not see why this and the TV show its based off of is regarded with such praise. Its dull, predictable and bland. If this were my film, a portal to Wolfenstein would open up and Tata and her mates would team up with BJ Blaskovich and battle mecca robots.
brandonrossey-70621 The movie a OK movie. I like the human designs and the songs where awesome. butt I think the store whose dumb and cued of been better and the villain is boring. butt is better in the second movie and I hate flash sentry. I live the derpy and vinyl cameo's.the store 5/10the songs 8/10the art and designs 7/10I like the ending fight with sunset shimmer. I hate that snips and snails are the henchmen.I think the second movie is better.
Angels_Review As much as I like friendship is magic, I am not really fond of this one. Sadly, this just feels like a cop out to sell more products then something that actually works with the series. It brings me a bit of disappointment that they would do something so low as to give in to the marketing ploy. It feels like they tried to make 'Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen' again. It's just how Barbie made 'The Barbie Diaries'. Just a school life story. It's a bit sad since it doesn't have the same feeling that went along with the TV show. Sure it has a bit of the 'be yourself' but then the characters seem a little like they are not being themselves next to what they were in the pony world.Anther thing that bothers me is that they never explain where Twilight lives after going through the mirror. I understand if she was there for a day but she is there for a while. There are little details like that that seem to mess with my head although maybe not for children. They also add a character that wasn't in the TV show just for romance aspect. The animation feels very wonky, with stiff characters, proportionate bodies, and even the strange color choices for the characters. For example, Twilight has purple skin. I have nothing against people with purple skin mind you… but um, you get what I'm saying? It's a very unnatural look and just makes it look like it was forced. There were so many other things they could do to make it look like Twilight, her hair, her personality, the cutie mark… anything but that! And while I'm at it, why do all the girls have to wear dresses? Even the tomboys wear dresses like Rainbow Dash. It just feels like they messed up there. Characters who are rather sporty do not normally wear skirts every day. I know this for a fact that. It just feels old fashioned then. It works when they have parties and stuff, just not for school. Every character wears short skirts is what I got from it.The voices and music were good and pretty much just like the TV show. That's the one thing I thought was good about it. They made it the same on that scope. The music was catching and new beat, the voices were not fully annoying and matched the characters that they needed to sound like. Not much else I can really say there. The script it what seems a little forced in my mind. It just feels a little unnatural at points.
