Nancy Drew Audience Reviews

BallWubba Wow! What a bizarre film! Unfortunately the few funny moments there were were quite overshadowed by it's completely weird and random vibe throughout.
TaryBiggBall It was OK. I don't see why everyone loves it so much. It wasn't very smart or deep or well-directed.
Nicole I enjoyed watching this film and would recommend other to give it a try , (as I am) but this movie, although enjoyable to watch due to the better than average acting fails to add anything new to its storyline that is all too familiar to these types of movies.
Juana what a terribly boring film. I'm sorry but this is absolutely not deserving of best picture and will be forgotten quickly. Entertaining and engaging cinema? No. Nothing performances with flat faces and mistaking silence for subtlety.
adi_2002 And our little hero even looks like Daphne. And what does she do? Solve mysteries. As Nancy. And it seems it is very good, making police job in her hometown. Is a girl with a high IQ, incredibly smart, a little genius. She moves with her father in another city. Staying in a house where lived an old actress who was missing for then to be found dead and the cause is still not known. Then she goes to school where it is not seen very well, her classmates make fun of her because of old-fashioned clothes that she wears. Nancy can not help but find out what happened to Delhi and from some old movies slowly finds all sorts of clues that help find out who is the killer. Surprising was the appearance of Bruce Willis, even if only for 30 seconds and I liked when she got introduced to Nancy used his real name. The film has some flaws. Shows us how she went to school but just one day? Then he went not. I do not think it says how old is our detective so can drive a car and parade through traffic. I can not say I liked this movie but i didn't hate it either. It is to see if you want to remember the childhood, if you want to get into the minds of children. But honestly better I looked at "Bolt".
blisterpeanuts This movie has some serious deficiencies by modern standards: No sex. One kiss. A little bit of violence.Had it come out 40 years ago or so, it would be considered a classic. But in this cynical modern age--the worst aspects of which Nancy seems to reject--people are missing the ingredients that make for a successful Hollywood hit.I enjoyed the movie. It's a bit predictable, the children's acting is uneven, and the plot was a bit silly. But Emma Roberts as Nancy was outstanding. I enjoyed watching her interpret her character with such sincerity. She was witty, composed, in control, and powerful. My main regret is that they've waited so long to produce the sequel; Nancy was 16 or 17 when this movie was made, and she'll be 20 in 2011. But, Hollywood has a way with makeup and smoke and mirrors, so we may not notice too much of an age difference.
Alexandra Logan I really was hoping they'd nail the movie this time around. Is this a disappointment? Yes. While most peeps want the directors to follow the book more closely I was hoping they'd break free like the ones staring Bonita Granville back in the 30's. The truth is,Ms. Drew from the books is perfect and it works for her too. But on screen, especially since this one is UPDATED,they might have wanted to do something more with her character. We find Nancy her usual sunshine-y self. She stands out among SPOILER SPOILER her peers not only because she's smart and polite but she looks like she just came from out a time machine. Her father, once so proud of her sleuthing, wants her to become a "NORMAL" teenager (yeah, he's a jerk). There are two new girls in this one, supposedly modern day teens who pick on Nancy and by the end kinda become her friends. Bess and George are removed and Corky is added. Strangely enough, I didn't mind him...who I did mind however was (the insecure)Ned. There was well, no reason for him to be there-just to provide a person to kiss the heroine at the end.Bottom line: Fans of Nancy Drew- you're probably not going to like this one, especially if Nancy's perfect demeanor annoyed you in the book. Go expecting rubbish-that's the only way you'll enjoy this.Non Nancy Drew Fans- If you're a teenager with time on her hands and nothing in your head. This is one for you! Beware though, Peeps who might want to try the books after seeing this movie: the books are nothing like this. The poor Carolyn Keene's (I say Keene's because several of people under the name Carolyn Keene wrote them) are probably turning in their graves.Psst! If you want a Nancy Drew that you can enjoy, check out the black and white ones from the late 30's! But be warned, Nancy is nothing like she is in the books. And all the better
mattkratz This wasn't too bad an adaptation of the book series as the heroine moves to California and tackles a case against her father's wishes. The case involves the mysterious disappearance of a movie star and her long lost child. I thought the movie was just the right combination of suspense, humor, writing, and acting, and Emma Roberts was the perfect choice to play Nancy. The annoying little kid in the film was also good and well-cast. Any fan of the book series will find plenty to like about this movie. I certainly did. I enjoyed watching it. I think it was the perfect start to a movie series. You will enjoy watching it too.*** out of ****
