Neurotypical is an unprecedented exploration of autism from the point of view of autistic people themselves. Four-year-old Violet, teenaged Nicholas and adult Paula occupy different positions on the autism spectrum, but they are all at pivotal moments in their lives. How they and the people around them work out their perceptual and behavioral differences becomes a remarkable reflection of the "neurotypical" world — the world of the non-autistic — revealing inventive adaptations on each side and an emerging critique of both what it means to be normal and what it means to be human.

Neurotypical Audience Reviews

ThrillMessage There are better movies of two hours length. I loved the actress'performance.
Invaderbank The film creates a perfect balance between action and depth of basic needs, in the midst of an infertile atmosphere.
Geraldine The story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.
Dana An old-fashioned movie made with new-fashioned finesse.
joannamstevenson Watching this film was a revelation for me. To hear autists and their families describe their views of life, people and their behaviours was so refreshing. It helped of course that all the people taking part were able to clearly articulate how they felt. I'd recommend anyone with a partner, child, other family member or colleague on the spectrum to watch this DVD. It can only be positive to do so and understand better.I hope this film will be made available for distribution in the UK as there are many professionals here that would welcome the opportunity to watch such a well documented film.
