R.I.P.D. Audience Reviews

Kidskycom It's funny watching the elements come together in this complicated scam. On one hand, the set-up isn't quite as complex as it seems, but there's an easy sense of fun in every exchange.
Cooktopi The acting in this movie is really good.
Abbigail Bush what a terribly boring film. I'm sorry but this is absolutely not deserving of best picture and will be forgotten quickly. Entertaining and engaging cinema? No. Nothing performances with flat faces and mistaking silence for subtlety.
Ezmae Chang This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.
Michael Ledo Nick (Ryan Reynolds) a slightly dirty cop dies early in the film. In the afterlife he is teamed up with Roy (Jeff Bridges) an old western marshal. Together they cruise Boston looking for "deados," people who are dead, but somehow missed getting caught up in the vortex because "the system wasn't designed for the heavy volume."The plot, inane as it was, had some good MIB potential. Indeed they did spend money on special effects. The main problem was that the main characters were more annoying than entertaining, especially Bridges who down right prated on my nerves. Reynolds didn't impress and neither did his mousy wife (Stephanie Szostak). Kevin Bacon did what he could with his role. The characters and dialogue had no hook. Mary-Louise Parker had some snarky lines, but wasn't on the screen long enough.Worth a rental, but not much more.Parental Guide: Near f-bomb. No sex or nudity.
paulclaassen Surprisingly, this was more enjoyable than I anticipated. Yes, the dialogue is crap. Yes, the humor is downright silly. I just don't know exactly why I found this as entertaining as I did. Maybe it was the amazing visual effects. Maybe it was the unique story. Maybe it was the 'City of Angels'-ish love story. Maybe it was the devilishly handsome Ryan Reynolds. Whatever it was, it worked for me and I enjoyed this. (The usually good Jeff Bridges was annoying, though.)
yammer5 Fun and entertaining film similar to the Frighteners, it's definitely worth a watch.
caveredecorator i kept waiting for a laugh or even a smile or 2 but its not hard to see why this flop lost 100 million dollars. maybe some one hoping for an action adventure sci fi would like this a little. once you settle in with your popcorn you mite as well get a crossword puzzle going too, for some type of intellectual stimulation. the actors did the best they could with the script and plot they were saddled with. my favorite part of this movie was when it was over. the special effects probably took up most of the budget but there wasn't anything that special about them and they all seemed familiar from other movies in the past. car chases and morphing have all been over done long ago. the heaven can wait theme has been over done in the past also. if there is nothing else on t.v. and you can watch it for free, give this movie a try if its raining and you need some background noise to help you fall asleep. this movie may also inspire you to renew your library card.
