Info

A young female babysitter is chatting to her friend when the young girl she's watching disturbs her. She hangs up the phone and goes upstairs to investigate. She finds her screaming and standing up on her bed but can't find anything wrong. She calms the child down and goes back down stairs. This happens several times but things get more ominous and creepy as the babysitter has to investigate the supposedly safe little bedroom.

Red Balloon Audience Reviews

Marketic It's no definitive masterpiece but it's damn close.
XoWizIama Excellent adaptation.
Lollivan It's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.
Kamila Bell This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.
Horst in Translation (filmreviews@web.de) "Red Balloon" is a British 13-minute short film from slightly over five years ago. The two directors are Damien Macé, Alexis Wajsbrot and they also worked on the script, with two more guys, which is quite a lot actually looking at how short this one is. It is pretty generic for a short horror film and it does not bring anything new really, but that's perfectly fine as it uses aspects that have worked in the past and these also work in here. A cute babysitter is in charge and she takes care of a little girl. but something's not right with the girl, or with the room the girl is in. Watch for yourself. It's atmospheric, has some scary moments and like I wrote Rachel Bright's looks aren't hurting at all either. Maybe the film tries to be something that it should not have with the very end and the television report, but it's nowhere near being so bad that it could destroy the film. I give this one a thumbs-up and I am not even a great horror film fan. People who appreciate the genre more than I do will probably have a really great time here.
Siflheim This film can be summarized in one phrase: 'another babysitter horror'. Yup, that itself can already be the spoiler. It's a story that's been told over and over and over again. There's nothing new to it; it's a film version and nothing more. The cliché scare tactics could've been easily pardoned but it was just so predictable. Also, the part where the protagonist right away know's what's up was very exaggerated and unrealistic, and this will definitely make your eyes roll. All in all, fans of horror and urban legends should be spared from this. If you haven't watched it yet, I bet you already have a pretty good idea of what it's about. At least it was short.
Theo Robertson RED BALLON is a horror short revolving around Julie a teenager babysitting a young child called Dorothy . Julie is bored and watches the television news and one of the reports revolves around a violent criminal who is on the loose !!! SUGGESTIVE SPOILERS !!!! It's an effective enough short film and the directors show show enough technical competence . In fact the directing does better than being competent and some of the camera work is very impressive indeed such as the scene where the camera zooms out of the living room in to the garden . The problem is that I was hoping for a supernatural element to the story and the " monster " as such is very mundane without any supernatural cause which is something of a pity
shocktokyo Julie, a young babysitter, finds herself constantly disturbed by the young girl she is babysitting one night. Julie assumes the girl is just having nightmares, but little does she know – the nightmare is in the home.I love it when a horror films needs little time to give me a few good chills, and Red Balloon did just that for me. The idea of a babysitter facing any type of horror is not an original idea, but when you can take an unoriginal idea and still keep the viewer engaged then you have a winner. Our story is constantly moving with little time wasted and nothing but proper development taking place, which thankfully did not take very long for things to really get going. The horror provided was excellent, and came via a sweet twist very reminiscent of the incredible clown scene from Amusement. It was not an original idea, but it was one that is rarely used despite being creepy as hell and guarantee to deliver goose bumps as it did for me. The film does end rather abruptly, especially when all you want is more of the awesome antics going on, but hey – this is a short film.Writers/directors Damien Mace and Alexis Wajsbrot, SFX maestros by trade, did a fantastic job delivering this film to us. The atmosphere is perfect, the sets are great, we get good performances from all (two) involved, and they execute the horror to perfection, resulting in some darn good chills that I did not expect to see in a short film.Overall, Red Balloon is a great horror short that provides an effective story that results in great horror thanks to awesome direction. At only 13 minutes total the film will not provide as much horror as a full length effort, but the amount of horror you get in such a short package makes for a highly recommended watch if you can find it.
