Rigor Mortis Audience Reviews

Evengyny Thanks for the memories!
Gutsycurene Fanciful, disturbing, and wildly original, it announces the arrival of a fresh, bold voice in American cinema.
Taraparain Tells a fascinating and unsettling true story, and does so well, without pretending to have all the answers.
Kimball Exactly the movie you think it is, but not the movie you want it to be.
R. Scott Howes Rigor Mortis/Geung Si. If you have seen a movie called, 'Occurance at Owl Creek Bridge' this movie will make sense. I still have some questions about the story; i.e., the father and son relationship. And how much of the movie follows traditional Chinese folklore. Even with sub-titles the film was gripping. Every actor/actress seemed perfectly suited to their role. The story is not exactly linear but, in the end all is explained. Quite a combination of action/horror and pathos. On my system of three elements, story, acting, effects it scores high on all three. I have read Geung Si is a homage to the Mr. Vampire series; which I have yet to see but, the a for mentioned source is said to have a component of humour. There was no humour in this movie I saw. Geung Si is a deadly seriously film with only one scene of sexual content. I watch this movie several times a year and for reasons I have yet to understand, I find it uplifting. I have recommended Rigor Mortis to friends repeated and I now recommend it to you. I am puzzled as to its low rating.
Flow I won't declare this one a total loss, as it has its good parts but as it goes on and on it starts to get too fuzzy to follow. Even laughable here and there I might say, cause some scenes are way too typical "Asian horror that won't end already!"The good parts: as everyone else said, long live the effects, nicely done, captivating even; the plot is OK, especially the first 70%, where you find out more and more, things start to get together and you are intrigued; characters are all OK.The bad parts: the never ending finale!; the extremely poor twist; some scenes make pretty much no sense. All in all, if you into Asian horror, guess you have to add Rigor mortis. But if you looking for a late night scary movie, it might be better to look elsewhere. This goes more in the fantasy section to be honest.Cheers!
cyongbin It's not a stereotype Hong Kong horror movie for the start. So if you are looking for those genre of movie, this is definitely not for you. It's been long since there's a representative movie for the Hong Kong movie industry. Rigor Mortis falls in that category, one which possibly can turn the tide of the industry, if the other Directors picks up the finer points of the movie and understand the new consumer pattern of the current generation of movie-goers, and stop mass producing those hilariously distasteful slap-stick movies.Watch it with an open mind, and the plot will suck you in before you knows it. There's a certain amount of gore and violence, not excessive though. Nicely shot scenes and generally tight plot.My only issue is the ending, but that said aside, it is much because I was expecting something more at the end. Otherwise, a great movie which I'll recommend for all Mr Vampire series fans.
lifecoachexperience If you understand and can appreciate the cultural differences between western horror movies and those of the J horror genre, then THIS ONES FOR YOU.The storyline is not the most original ever seen yet it works, the acting by the cast was very good(please do not compare them to Brad Pitt and Sandra Bullock),the cgi special effects was well done and the mood of the film projected the right vibe. If you followed the story and timeline of the film, it makes for a pretty satisfactory if not perfect ending . For fans of the J horror movie genre, this movie is definitely a cut above the majority of entries been cranked out. The first time director have started out with a movie that has set the bar high. For those not familiar with this particular genre, please look at it with a open mind and do not expect Friday THE 13TH.
