Ring 2 Audience Reviews

FeistyUpper If you don't like this, we can't be friends.
FuzzyTagz If the ambition is to provide two hours of instantly forgettable, popcorn-munching escapism, it succeeds.
Humaira Grant It’s not bad or unwatchable but despite the amplitude of the spectacle, the end result is underwhelming.
Kaydan Christian A terrific literary drama and character piece that shows how the process of creating art can be seen differently by those doing it and those looking at it from the outside.
Desertman84 Ring 2 is the is the sequel to the Japanese horror film entitled,Ring. It stars Miki Nakatani,Hitomi Sato,Kyoko Fukada,Nanako Matsushima and Hiroyuki Sanada. The story of the sequel sets out to resolve the unanswered questions of the first film.In it,Mai and Ryuchi, who both searched clues about the mysterious videotape during the first film.Too bad that the sequel does not hold a candle to the first film. The story started out great but it ends up in a mess and more questions are raised despite the fact that it tries to figure out the questions being asked in the first film.Added to that,it was a stillborn thriller from the beginning to end.It just managed to become more commercially successful compared to the first film due to the presence of Miki Nakatani, who happens to be a well-known Japanese pop singer.
atinder In this sequel to Ringu (1998), Mai Takano is trying to learn more about the death of her boyfriend, Ryuji. She soon hears stories about a videotape haunted by the spirit of a girl named Sadako, who died many years earlier. Supposedly, anyone watching the tape will die of fright exactly one week later. After some investigating, she learns that Ryuji's son, Youichi, is developing the same psychic powers that Sadako had when she was alive. Mai must now find some way to keep Yuuichi and herself from becoming Sadako's next victims Ringu was the first horror movie I brought on video,, I sat really close to TV and Ringu the scared the hell out me, so bad then i had to look for sequel. It was not that good as Ringu at all, it didn't have the same feel to It.There were some good creepy moments here and there however that was is about it, those scenes were not scary. This movie did have some really dull moment, which did bore me.The acting was not great but still good from most of the cast.Okay sequel but could of been much better., I going this movie a 5 out of 10.
Matthew Berard Asmik Ace Entertainment had decided that because of "Rasen" and it's huge flop, being panned by viewers and critics alike, they would make another sequel. Billed by many as the "proper" sequel, Rasen was forever buried and this one had stood as the "better" one...Hmm... it was better alright, but was it any good? Despite the fact that all the original cast and crew have returned, this movie still fails to live up to the success of "Ringu". Perhaps the scary thing about Ringu was how we had never seen this kind of movie before... or at least nothing that dark and mysterious and so wonderfully and colorfully shot. Now that we've sunk our teeth into it, we are craving more, and this movie falls short. Now that we are still questioning the events in Ringu, this movie attempts to tie all knots possible. This movie still manages to pull off all the stops in terms of scares, however. But that doesn't shake off the fact that this movie feels irrelevant to the series. Very little here is related to the actual story. It all starts when doctors are trying to identify the body of Sadako Yamamura, who was discovered from a well she was thrown into thirty years ago.Reiko has taken Yoichi with her into hiding after the terror in Ringu. Mai, desperate for answers after her professor's (Ryuji Takayama) death, is out to search for them. When she discovers them, she is surprised to learn that Yoichi is starting to inherit the terrifying psychic ability of Takayama. Soon enough, scientists are using his mind to try to discover, and stop, the power of Sadako Yamamura.**1/2-*****
dbdumonteil In 1998, Hideo Nakata caused a stir with a horror/fantasy film: "Ringu". With a capacity to make shiver thanks to the suggested and the off-camera, this gem refreshed the Asiatic fantastic genre even the fantastic genre. One year later, the filmmaker stepped back into the breach to produce a (superfluous) sequel. A typical American trend and it is well known: sequels rarely match the brilliance of their elder brothers. Like "the Haunting" (1963) or "the Blair Witch Project" (1999), "Ringu" is a film that cries out to be left alone. However, at first glance, it's an alluring menu with first-class ingredients. One doesn't change a winning formula, especially if it isn't imposed by the Hollywood working conditions: Nakata reproduced the thrifty, sober style that had so well served him for his 1998 film. Patience was his prevailing mood when he directed his work and we are entitled to genteel, spooky moments. But the problem lies in the fact that the scenario appears sometimes as artificial even desultory in its conception and progression. The first chapter was clear in its goal: what was the source of these outlandish images on the cursed video tape? Here, the issues aren't well defined and more simply have a minor importance compared to the first film's major stake. Hence the nearly absence of a crescendo towards terror and an increasing lack of interest from the viewer. In spite of an elegant camera work and the molding of an eerie atmosphere, it is highly likely that this superfluous sequel will leave a good number of the aficionados of the first film unsatisfied. So, you'd better stick with the first film or even its American ambassador.
