Lee Eisenberg Typical slasher movie about a copycat killer, with young people doing things that they shouldn't and getting butchered. I could pretty much predict everything that was going to happen. You'd think that something focusing on Jack the Ripper might be a little more interesting, but "Ripper" doesn't cut it. The most befuddling thing is that Jurgen Prochnow stars in this. He played the submarine captain in "Das Boot" and the terrorist leader in "Air Force One", so what's he doing here? If you want to see a good movie dealing with Jack the Ripper, the choices are: "The Ruling Class" (Peter O'Toole's character ends up believing himself to be Jack the Ripper); "Time After Time" (H.G. Wells chases Jack the Ripper into 1970s San Francisco); and "From Hell" (Johnny Depp plays a detective investigating the murders in 1880s London). And of course some people might include "Dr. Strangelove" (Sterling Hayden plays Gen. Jack Ripper).All in all, you'll do best to avoid this one.

babbybunny i purchased th film ripper at a cheap pound shop and could not believe it when i watched it to as in how amazing it is, it is a real shocker for a film that isn't well known, the plot is amazing and the actors do a fantastic job, so highly recommended, however as you get so into the film and can't wait to find out who the killer is it is a real shock as to the end when you don't actually find out who it is, fair enough it is betrayed to be kane but i am thinking it is more likely to be molly, i understand that by adding this twist it really does hold you wanting more, but is kind of frustrating i have now watched this film over 5 or 6 times and still have no idea who it it each time i look for more clues but still not really sure. have any of you who have seen this got any idea, please write your comments and together we might be able to find out who it is! thank you for reading xxxbabbybunnyxxx

fox_mullder This movie starts out with a bang that will leave you shaking in your seats. Then it decides to explain itself. While another Jack the Ripper wannabe ripoff doesn't sound that original, you soon realize that there is more to this movie than meets the eye. With it's share of gruesome death scenes and jumpy moments, you'll be plenty scared while trying to find out who the hell is killing all these pretty girls. With a thousand different theories as to who could of done this movie keeps you on the edge, and it manages to avoid the typical cop out ending. This movie will keep you guessing all the way back to the movie store. Just don't watch it at night.

casey This film is vastly underrated. I discovered it by accident when I was browsing the new(ish) dvd releases in my local video store. And I only picked it up because I thought that it would be about Jack the Ripper. Which it wasn't. But I still thought it was good.*** WARNING *** SPOILERS ***A.J. Cook (The Virgin Suicides) is brilliant as Molly Keller. I've long thought that she was a hugely unappreciated actress. The plot of the film is basically this: Molly gets dissed by all these people when she's younger and escapes death when all these people she is hanging out with on an island are killed by a serial killer. About a year passes and she enrolls in a class that seems to focus only on serial killers. *Then* the people who she is in a study group with begin to get killed one by one and each in the style of Jack the Ripper. Turns out all the people that get killed, their initials are the same as the prostitutes that Jack killed. The ending pretty much sucked because we don't find out for sure who the killer actually is. But, and most people would agree with me on this, the soundtrack is *brilliant*.I'd probably give this film *** out of *****
